Where to find Dry Ice

I need a chunk of Dry Ice for a project I'm working on. Anyone know where to it in the local area. I was told by the lusby food and hardware stores that Ice Houses in Waldorf is the closest place to find it?

Anyone know a closer source?

This was posted in last August by Bean Machine "I get shipments of frozen foods on Wednesdays and sometimes I get a big chunk of dry ice on top. It's kind of random when I get it, but anyone is welcome to it. PM if you're interested"

I did a Google search for 'dry ice near california, md', and came up with nothing more local than Waldorf. However, from reading thru some of the listings, it looks like some beer distributors carry dry ice. Might be worth a call to a few locals, like Guy Distributing or something.

The Food Lion near my folk's house in VA had a small bin of dry ice for sale inside the store. I don't think they have it anymore tho, maybe only during the heat of the summer.

How much do you need? Got a CO2 extinguisher? Blast it thru a cloth and capture some.

Right now, I'm using the air duster bottles, turn them upside down and spray the propellant out on the surface in liquid form. Problem is, its expensive at $6 a can for only a few seconds, a chunk of dry ice would be many times cheaper.

I'm trying to straighten some dented sheet metal on a vehicle, that has no paint damage. Using heating and cooling to pull the metal straight.

And Dave and BCP, I'm sure you were joking, but I am looking for CO2 in the solid phase, that stays dry when you take it out of the freezer and stays much colder than 32°F.

:dingding:Just called Safeway in Prince Frederick, they confirm they sell Dry Ice, thanks for the Tip! That's a lot shorter drive than Waldorf.

Yay! Glad I could help....I thought I had seen the case there :) If I recall correctly, it is located at the front of the store.
