Where to get ...Sand?

We've encountered a nuisance with our dogs, and right now, we need a quick and dirty solution before we try a more expensive alternative. The dogs are chewing the water-filled bags we use to keep the tarp on the pool for the winter. There are only about sixteen of them, so it won't be long before they destroy all of them.

As long as they hold WATER.

The best alternative I can think of in the short term is to fill them with something they won't want to chew on - sand.

Where's a GOOD place to get some?

You should be able to buy sand by the bag load at Lowes. You can also use the plastic gallon-sized milk containers as weights to tie to the cover.

After numerous threads about pool covers (and dog training) ... :roflmao:

What makes you think they won't chew sandbags? I'll bet sand in the pool will be fun to clean out.

Buy the pool cover and train your dogs! Why go cheapie on a tarp when you have an investment in the pool already.

Check Kerads butt. I am thinking he has been told to pack sand so many times he probably has a few cubic yard of it up there.

If you have a pickup, the place on St Andrews Church road for about $15-$20. Just make sure they don't give you more than you need.

Well I thought I made it clear in my first post that we don't have the money for anything more, and I need a solution right now. Kind of hard to spring a thousand when you've got pennies.

Should be able to get some somewhere. We were down at Point Lookout once and saw two nuns taking some rocks from the causeway. :lmao:

Well, probably, except I don't live there, it's stealing, and I don't think the Ranch Club will look kindly on me filling my pickup with their sand that they pay for.

I guess I'm not picturing you needing a pickup load of sand for what you are describing.

I wanna be a SMIB
Any gallon jug..ie bleach, milk, ect..use twine or string and hang off side of pool. Dogs wont bother it and its cheap. Your way the dogs will chew up bags and youll have sand all over the place.

The dogs are ripping up the plastic bags because THAT is the fun thing. They don't care whether they're filled with water or shiat. Trust me on this....
