My gut feeling - she was always planning to do this, without any regard to politics or anything.They just don't get it...by neutering themselves, the population of the opposition takes over.
She was evidently the first openly bisexual elected to the Michigan House.
So - about the only thing this does is gain some kind of virtue signaling cred among Dems - but she was already doing this.
It would be like me saying I'm shaving my hair off - something I do ROUTINELY - because of some political crap. People who know me would just roll their eyes.
