OK...a group in Florida wants The Who banned from performing at the Superbowl because of,
"Child AbuseWatch.net objects to Pete Townshend performing because of his 2003 arrest by British police on suspicion of possessing child pornography. He was eventually cleared but placed on a sex offenders registry for five years as part of a formal police caution for accessing a Web site containing images of child abuse."
and the reason was:
""U.K. police cleared him since he was doing research for a project on child abuse," McCarthy said.

I like The Who...and Pete too...
I support them playing at halftime at the Superbowl..how about you?

I'm wondering what songs they're going to play? We could start halftime song pole, I say they sing "Won't get fooled again", "Baba O'Riley' and Twist and shout(by the Beatles).

My dad was such a fan when I was little, I can now wake up out of a dead sleep and sing any Who song. I wanted to name my baby girl Athena.

Makes no sense why he would be placed on a sex offenders registry if he was cleared of the charges. Is there something missing from the story?

The modern Superbowl halftime show has become nothing less than mind raping child and adult abuse. Pete Townsend, what he was accused of, is perfectly fitting to the image the NFL wants to project and promote these days.

Since he was accused but cleared of charges, it's ridiculous to hold anything against him.

I had a roommate once who was arrested for rape - and cleared later of all charges. He wasn't guilty (I'm not going into the details). The neighbors referred to him as "the rapist".

Unless my math is wrong, he's also no longer on their list. So the concern is unfounded.

Yea......:moon:

Some right winder group is making a lot of nasty noise about him being on the registry even though the charges were dropped.

So typical of such a group...Yell SEX and everyone responds.....yell SIX and no one blinks an eye....Go figure.....:coffee:

It seems strange that he's on any registry if charges were dropped. Would they just arbitrarily put him on the list? Or do they have a good reason that hasn’t been reported?
