Who do i call?..

A couple weeks ago i was driving by the WaWa in Charlotte Hall in St.Mary's county and I saw a dog walking across the road.I called my mom and asked if there was anyone I could call but it was a Sunday and she said it probabley belonged to someone.Last night I was at the same WaWa and the dog was in the parking lot this time.

It is very obvious the animal does not have a home, and if it does then shame on them for the care of the dog.He looks like he hasn't eaten in weeks and his nails are all grown out and twisted in different directions. He just looked so pitiful I bought him a can of dog food and gave it to him.I would have loved to take him with me until I could find out who to call but my mom would have killed me.He looks like a beagle, maybe a mix.

I tried googling the humane society and found a number for St.Mary's but it turned out to be some catering service.I don't want to call the pound..everyone keeps telling me they will put him to sleep.Any suggestions as to who I should call?If the dog was still in the area after two weeks I wouldn't be suprised to find him there again.I would just like to have someone pick him up so the poor thing doesnt starve to death.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Harsh reality, but the dog is better off with Animal Control than wandering around in a parking lot or on the street.

There are some organizations that take in strays other than the humane society. I can't recall any names at this moment but you may be able to do a google search on one of these as well.

Hi,
When you fed him were you able to get close to him, touch him, etc or did he shy off? I foster dogs and may have room after Saturday's adoptions depending if one gets adopted. I only have room for three at a time. We could at least get him in to see a vet. I could give you my phone number in case you see him again. I'll stop by there often too and talk to the people who work there. Approximately what time of day have you seen him? Thanks

I believe I mentioned that I did use the telephone book, but the number I called ended up being a catering service.

After I gave him the can of food he would get close to me but would not allow me to touch him. He seemed friendly though. He never once growled or bared his teeth at me.

The first time I saw him was in the afternoon, and the second was later at night, probabley around 11 or 12.There is an ad in the lost pets section of the classifieds for a beagle that was found. I think it might be the same dog, but who knows.

I've been back to WaWa a couple times in the past week and I haven't seen him since. My guess is he continued wandering.Thankyou for trying to help though. I will get in touch with you should I happen to see him again.

No, you said you googled it. Big difference. Also, the spacebar that Mike is refering to is because there should be two spaces between the end of one sentence and the beggining of another. Without those spaces, your sentences appear to run together and it makes it hard to read.

Yeah I just realized that I had said googled, sorry. I had looked in the phone book but I think I found the same number that was on the internet.

Wow people on these forums are really touchy. Silly me to think I could come here for some polite suggestions without being criticized for my typing. Guess you never really leave english class do you?

Thankyou to everyone for your help. I haven't seen the dog though so I pretty much just forgot about it. Not much else I can do from here.

You said you have been reading for a while, you should have already known that. Also, it's not that we're touchy, it's just fun to razz people and you left yourself open for that. I would have done it, but someone beat me to it.
