Who Wants My Dog?

Flame me, bad karma me, I don't care.

I have a pure bred fixed male Britany Spaniel that we rescued from the pound in Frederick 3 years ago. When we got him, we had a fence and could let him run in the backyard. Moved down here and have no fence, so we have to tie him up whenever he goes out. He ends up spending most of his day either tied up outside or in the basement (laying at the top of the steps behind the baby gate is more like it). He is great with kids, but our living room is too small for him to be running around with all the kids playing in it. If I had a fence or a finished basement for everyone to spread out in, I'd never even THINK about getting rid of him. I feel it is unfair to him to keep him tied up outside all the time. If I can't find a home for him (with a fence) I will keep him. Love my dog, just want him to be able to have more freedom than I can give him.

Don't you have trees back there you could hook up a run to? He's such a good little doggie. Maybe a nice long walk in the morning and evening would calm him down a bit, so he can be around the kids in the house.

Every tree I have tried putting a run between he STILL manages to wrap himself around the other trees (not enough clear area where I could put it and still have shade for him).

He's actually a very mellow dog. Not hyper at all, except when people come over, then he wants to play. He's about 8 yrs old. He sleeps most of the day, but the babies like to sit in his bed, so he has to find someplace else. We don't have a place to put his bed that isn't where the babies will get to it. He is submissive to the smallest of children. He'll roll on his back for the tiniest baby. He's a sweet dog (and I'm not a dog person), but our circumstances aren't the best for him. He loves to run, loves to hunt and will take off into the woods at any opportunity. That's what landed him in the pound in the first place.

PF, he looks alot like the first picture Jameo put up. His markings are orange and white. He weighs around 40 lbs.

I don't know if he's ever seen a chicken  I'm pretty sure he was a city dog before coming to us because he doesn't bark at sirens, even ones right in front of the house.

Is this the same dog that acts like I'm his best buddy every time I have been over there? If so he seems to be a very sweet but hyper animal.

That's him. He's only hyper for strangers. (good watch dog)

Right now he's passed out on the floor, looks like he's half dead. But as soon as he realizes the neighbor boy is cutting the grass he'll be up trying to go out and play.

I am so very blessed
If you are looking to locate a better home for him, my sister in Lusby is a member of the Britany Spaniel Rescue group. She takes in Britnay's and fosters them until a suitable home for them can be found. She's been doing this for a few years, and she's had a lot of success in placing the doggies in loving homes. If you'd like additional info, PM me. - BadGirl
