He's not asking for volunteeers. He's asking those who want to help to donate $20 to the organization.

The only substantial thing I saw on their website was a "retreat" in Ocean City. Yep, that ought to reduce crime in St. Mary's.

Which is only twenty bucks or so. I don't think you can have town militia's running around without any sort of order. This membership fee would only pay for organizing this group, a group that only wants to HELP the community clean up.

Do you have a better proposal? Perhaps you should run for Sheriff.

Read the links. This has nothing to do with helping St. Mary's.

Dougster has a FOP sticker on the top of his driver side window. When you roll the window down a few inches it blocks off part of your face. :killingme Get out jail free!! :killingme

A guy at work is a volunteer police officer in VA. I think its fairfax county. he loves it and said if it wasn't a pay cut he would quit his regular job and become a cop. He said it was to big of a pay cut though.
That does sound interesting but Zylac is asking for your money, not your time.

It's either one or the other in this life, some have more time and some more money.

TRUE
In reality, if Zylak would simply hire a sufficient number of qualified individuals and pay them a competitive salary then as residents we would not need to PAY the department to be "trained" to help them out. :wench: The starting annual salary of police officers on this county is pathetic ($37, 731). In addition, he has too many "senior staff" and not enough people that work the streets. The crime rate in the county is escalading and we need PAID and properly trained police officers to work towards improving the community. Not vigilantes.

He can only hire what the County Commissoners say. He doesn't set the starting pay the County Government does. Its not totally his fault-- he asks and they say NO!

:yeahthat: You want more cops on the street, look for a tax hike. I'd rather donate than have it robbed from my pay stub each week.
