He can only hire what the County Commissoners say. He doesn't set the starting pay the County Government does. Its not totally his fault-- he asks and they say NO!

Ok good point...so why are there so many officers working "9-5 M-F" and yet over the weekend there were 4...yes a grand total of 4 police officers working the entire St. Mary's County streets for the evening shift (and yes I do have first hand knowledge). WTF is wrong with that picture That is peak time for criminals. Why not let some of the higher paid and higher ranked officers have a day off during the week and let them work the streets at night and on the weekends. I mean they obviously have the knowledge and experience if they are making 50k and above, so put them on the streets and let them do some real work. I think they would do a much better job than "Joe Blow"

So you are saying 3/4 of the officers that were on duty saturday night were on the street that I live, leaving the entire county unprotected? I find that impossible to believe....

DId you see if they were in uniform? Many of the county officers work part-time and they are allowed to drive their cruisers for that purpose.
