Why are cat boxes so small?

They should make really big ones with lots of space. The girls get in, turn around, and stand in the opening to do their business. It would be great if they could get all the way in.

Gidget Asscat bullies Claudia and stalks her when she's trying to use the potty box. If Claude could get all the way inside, she wouldn't have this maniac swatting at her while she's trying to take a poop.

The ex just bought his cat one of those huge enclosed litter boxes. Seriously, its like the handicapped stall in the public potties. You could fit 4 cats in there, no problem.

I agree. I've replaced the standard littler box with big rubbermaid containers. I'm not completely happy with those, because of the molded shapes. I'm still keeping an eye out for a container just a bit larger, with smooth sides and bottom.

I've got the one that has the wheels and I agree, it's a pain to clean when wet little gets stuck in the grooves, I put a little Pinesol in it and take it out to the far corner of the yard and hose it out.

Why not get one with the door? We have an extra large (whatever that popular cat box brand is) with a hood and door and even the boy cat who is rather large can get all the way in.

Even the ones that say Jumbo or XL are not usually big enough. My shelter gal almost doesn't get it IN the box ... so she needs a bigger box? Or will she back up to the edge no matter what size box it is?

That's what I have but the girls don't find it spacious enough. They want a BIG bathroom.

That's a great idea, but is it deep enough to keep them from kicking the litter out? I have one that gets very enthusiastic about scratching to cover, but instead flings the litter out of the box ... then again one would have to have a large space to put something that big too ....

Like this?

They do. Two larger models, in fact. One is called;

The Sandbox. Plenty of room to dig around and find that special, unused spot. Room for several kitties at the same time.

The other is called;

The Playground. This is the ultimate in kitty crap roominess and no waiting be it a dozen or so kittens, as in Vrai's case or, if you like, entire herds of friendly, turd filled felines.

This is one of boxes i use.
Booda Clean Step Cat Litter Boxes Available Online at PETCO.com

works pretty well, the ramp is on one side and the bathroom area is on the other, so that could help with one cat not being able to see the other cat. the ramp works pretty well as a litter catch... but there's always some that gets by the ramp and the mat i use.
I had one of those and it was such a pain to clean. I tried using the liners, but my cat just shredded them up. :ohwell: I've been using the litterbox Pix linked to for about 3 years and it works great for my very big cat. :lol: I have the biggest one they make and wish it were bit bigger but he does just fine. We can't have something without a cover because he loves to fling litter everywhere. :lol:
