How are young people going to afford to live here when the rentals are so HIGH?

It's not 'that' bad and if it is for you then move to somewhere where its not.Your kidding right? You can't sacrifice when there is nothing left............

Do you have kids? It's not 'that' bad and if it is for you then move to somewhere where its not.
Then take the latter half of my aforementioned advice.:shrug:It is that bad..........add it up, rent (take a peek at the prices), gas, utilities, food, insurance, water, cable (ok that can wait), car payment or old car with maintenance.......
I know my kids can't do it and to be honest my daughter makes better than most her age but it's not like she has a killer paycheck.

I've looked around and have found decent places that won't break the bank.

I appreciate that but if you're not willing to pay your kid's way then they may have to struggle at some point; even if its miniscule compared to your past experience. When I first went out on my own, in 1984, I really had to struggle. My husband and I lived on bologna, eggs and veggies we grew ourselves. I learned alot and appreciate the things I have now and the things that I can afford. And one of those things is being able to help my kid so he does not have to struggle like that.
