Why do cops here insist on parking in the middle of the road?

Please tell me. I've seen it a number of times now in my 3 months here. A couple of examples:

I'm coming around a blind corner on Pegg road and there they sit, with someone pulled over. They need to tell the people to proceed to the next side street instead of risking a pile up.

Today I'm going down Great Mills road and there are 2 patrol cars stopped in the middle of the road to talk to a prostitute. Now I don't have a problem with them doing this, as I often take the time to do it myself. BUT I pull off of the main road. Can't they do this? Why not just pull up onto the sidewalk?

Next time you see them pulled over like that, I think you should walk over there and tell them they need to move their cars. If they don't move them right away, make sure to write a complaint letter stating your full name and address.

Thanks, I think I just may do this...

Well let's see... there's Trixie and Sugar, two of the finest conversationalists ever to set foot on the sidewalks of Great Mills Rd. Then there's a few others, but I can't understand much of what they say, including their names. Maybe something to do with the missing teeth?

I've lived here my whole life and I have never seen this. I must live on the decent end of the county.
