Ricers ARE annoying, but you have to be able to establish the difference between ricers, and tuners. I love cars that are domestic, as well as imports. There are a few sleepers running around here that I know personally, as well as tuned imports that are pushing great numbers.
Ever driven a 1100whp street legal Supra? I have. We were cruising down I-5 outside of Newman, CA one night last summer and I had one of these ever-so-praised All American v8 pull up and challenge. His attempt was cute. Tuner.
Alright, I'll jump off that. I've got a friend driving around in a GSX; no body kit, no neons, no 6ft spoiler, no ridiculous sound system. It's funny how his engine is pushing double the numbers of a v8, with half the engine. 510whp/495wtq isn't bad, right? Tuner.
Although, there are always the few kids who put a bad name on imports. When a kid drops into the store to pick up the latest Fast and the Furious (I hate the series with a passion) after picking up his civic that he found on autotrader, it's a lethal combination. That produces what you see sitting in a lot of local parking lot: civics, cavaliers, v6 stangs and v6 camaros. All of whom have euro tail lights, ebay exhausts, and ridiculous body kits and spoilers. They seem to red-line their car wherever they go. Ricer (both imports and some domestics).
I will say that some body kits and spoilers have potential on some cars, but not all. I do not drive a tuner car, import or domestic. I do not feel the need to. I know my fair share about both worlds and love it. I've driven anything from 400+ whp civics, integras, evo's, sti's, bmw's, and wrx's to domestic engines putting out the same amount. I love the potential that all cars in the import and domestic world, as long as its done right.
If you think I am calling anyone out, you're wrong.
