Why do....

I'm aware of the forced induction fact. While I was visiting a friend down in TX last year he got stomped in his GT with 6k of work by an RSX (S) that was non-turbo. I'm trying to point out that not all cars with a Honda/Acura/Mitsu. emblem and exhaust should be known as just a car with a fart can. I don't know why I said double (must have been in a different state of mind) that the power of a v8 and you're right. I meant that I have yet to see a v8 (with work) keep up.

Speaking of forced induction, you might like this. My uncle might sell me his '86 SVO Stang within the next two or three months. It's in decent shape but needs a little work and some TLC. It'll make a great project.

I agree, and have stated before that not all imports are "ricers" but id have to say the majority of them are, and those are the ones that give the others a bad rep.

Obviously the cars you've seen (or ridden in) either had a poor combination of parts and/or a poor driver. My lowly V8 has no problems keeping up (at the least) most of the time....even though its naturally aspirated.

The SVO would make a fun project, can get pretty decent power out of the 2.3 if built properly. :yay:

wondering how many of those who wreched on your own cars in the
60's-80's put a thrush glass pack on?(then shut the hell up) Beyond that if you can wrench on a car now you know what it takes to make HP/Torque!!! all the same idea just 13000 redline scares me if it aint in a bike. 2300 fords are known to get rapped around themselves with little more than some carb work. A way simple platform but not enough lower end staminia for the hps that can be easily created.

Cant say ive ever had a glasspack on any of my vehicles, but i do an always have worked on my own crap.

There are quite a few 2.3L Fords making good power, enough to run nines in the quarter.........like i said, if built right they are pretty decent engines.

props to the 2300 fords... thats what took me to college most days in my 79 stang. Thats the same engine that was in the 76 stangII that i was almost killed in when hit head on by a 71 stang. I know the engine very well... it can be a monster even in real racin like dirt track::evil:

They're out to get us
I guess its beacause they have heard some ricer buddy of theirs claiming to "always beat XXX domestic car" when in reality they only passed them in traffic or the car in question wasnt actually racing. So they think that because their ricer buddy can beat those cars, that their car will too. Then it manifests to all the others. Granted there are some very quick imports running around, the majority of them are not.

MrX, I don't believe you! People never fabricate stories.

Its pretty sad considering that my 2.5 ton SUV can keep up with or beat some of them.

Wait...I guess you were right, people do write BS stories. Sorry MrX :notworthy:
