No she is part of our pack, me, hubby and another dog. She is 5 and spoiled, they have free range and sleep with us. I know that is a bad idea, but it's a little to late to change that. Plus the 9 year old, want budge if you try to get her out of bed before 7am. She has no problem can hold it for 12 hours or more, if it's raining.

That's not true. Dogs live day by day and do not focus on the past. Do both of your dogs sleep with you at night?

I have cut back on her food, Dr. said he wasn't to concerned about that, but she could lose a few pounds. We all could in this family even the litttle one.:buddies: Only a true friend can say that about her:smoochy: she loves you. Serious, I have cut back, and she gets carrots for treat or 1 dog treat a day. I feed her 2 cups with about 2 TBLS of wet once a day. It's the injury to her legs that put the weight on, with 3 operations in a year, crated and drugged most of the time (why couldn't that be me):otter:. So exercise was limited, now after seeing what it all has done we are working on it and walking more in the new neighborhood. Between the licking none stop and peeing in the middle of the night and the sheding, and sheding, I am going to change her food and see if there is any change.

It is good that you are controlling how much your dog has to eat and drink. That may help. Make sure you remove the water from her at least an hour before you take her outside for the last time, as opposed to right before you go to bed.

IMO, Her issue sounds like it may be developing anxiety....Think about it. You said above that she's had three operations in one year and has been crated/drugged for alot of that time. Being in that state of mind and the dread of feeling like that probably triggered anxiety in her.

But on the flip side, it could be her way of getting attention. Can't know unless I were to meet and observe the dog.

To understand what your dog is going through and how to mediate the issue with the best intentions of your family AND dog in mind, I recommend that you tell the vet (as you plan to) and get his/her recommendation.
