Don't you think when the two lanes would have to merge into one we would still have traffic issues

...when the road is two lane, its all going in one direction...

I'm assuming adding more lanes up to the bridge is much cheaper than building another bridge. Adding more lanes would have to be done anyways if a new bridge was to be built.
