NO the Wii does not play DVD's and Wally World has DVD players for 30 bucks, I know because the easter bunny brought one to my son last year.
I got an upconverting DVD from NewEgg for $50
There's 3 of them...red, yellow, white. TV is about 5 years old.

I used to run my Wii through the VCR that went into the DVD that went into the surround system that went into the tv..
it worked.
Heres your cheapest fix, assuming of course, your DVD player doesnt have "pass through" connectors.
