Dont bother, it wont. Not stock anyway. Modded, it can, but you should really know what your doing, and be ready to eat the cost of a new Wii should you blow it somehow.

Hack: How to Play DVD Movies on Your Nintendo Wii - washingtonpost.com

NOTE: It says right in the article that the software is buggy, menus or whole DVDs wont work sometimes.

WARNING: Third party software on a machine that isnt built for it is always a risk, and definitely a warranty voiding waiting to happen.

Here.....

Amazon.com: Sony DVP-NS57P/B Progressive Scan DVD Player, Black: Audio & Video

$48.74 with free shipping. And its a Sony, not a Colby, the off brand normally sold at this price. And 72 users rated as four out of five stars, and the first reviewer bought his first one in 2005 and its still working fine. and has bought two more.

Much better than jacking your Wii up.

You haven't had near enough coffee, or something. I have a dvd player. It'd just be more convenient to not have to plug and unplug the Wii and the DVD from the same tv.

does your dvd play have inputs?
I used to run my Wii through the VCR that went into the DVD that went into the surround system that went into the tv..
it worked.

Damn...if I was young and of sound mind, I'd have thought about that. I used to run my computer through my amplifier (old tube type) so I could play music cds back when music cd players were really expensive.

Good call.
