Wild Boar

Hunter-man got two wild boar and I've never eaten nor cooked it before - what does it taste like? Also, any recipes would be helpful since I now have refrigerator full of chops, ribs, roasts, etc. Fortunately DH's brother is going to take some.

It's pork

I know its pork but since its wild game I don't have to do anything different? My in-laws are arriving this Saturday and I was thinking that I would fix the chops for dinner....so I would cook the boar chops the same exact way I would domestic pork chops?

Also, do you think I should tell them its wild boar befor we eat?

If they're Jewish, cook something else

When you set the table, announce that this is the first time you've ever cooked wild pig and you hope it turns out OK.
Keep Poppa John on speed dial just in case

I'll bet you could use google and find some good wild game recipes. Where did he go to get the boar?

Where are my pants?
Marinate overnight in milk. This will remove the "gamey" flavor.

Otherwise, you would do well to try a tenderloin roast...crockpot it. Heavy on the veggies (onion in particular), tarragon, bay leaf, cardamom, etc.

Christy and I had wild boar in Italy. Mine was marinated chunks and I am thinking she had chops? Whatever....it was freakin' delicious. It didn't taste like pork. :yum:
