I am moving to the area in 2 months and I need some advice on these 3 apartments. I know that there is an apartment rating website but you get typical apartment mgrs and staff rating it. What are the opinions of people living/ have lived in these places think of them?

Why does Spyglass have so many available apts????

Thanks :buddies:

They're out to get us
When I moved here, none of them had any open spots. Then Abberly Crest and Wildewood made phase 2 and seemingly overflowed the market with apartments, so it seems like there are apartments open in all 3 places now.

Spyglass is the oldest of the three (20ish years old?) with the other two being pretty new...extremely new if you get a place in the newer phase. From what I've heard, you really can't go wrong with any of them. I've had no complaints about the one I've been in. My suggestion is to browse all three websites, see the amenities they offer and the size of the apartments, as well as price.

Another option is to check out the ads on this website (under the classifieds) for places up for rent. If you're able to visit this area prior to moving here, then you could check out which places/areas are good and which aren't so good. You can probably save money and get something of decent enough quality, but it is a much bigger hassle...so if you're ok with the expense and want a safe choice for now, you're looking at the right places.

Here's my advice: Empty your wallet now and get used to it. All 3 are expensive. You can buy a house and have a lower mortgage than the amount those charge for rent. Also, compare the amount per square foot to that of a house. All 3 complexes are high dollar and have tiny units. Abberly Crest's units are really nice but small. I've never been impressed with any of Wildewood's condos/apartments. All have been tiny. Look into the townhouses there. I've seen some great rentals there. More bang for your buck. :yay:

They're definitely expensive. My dad and his gf just moved to Abberly Crest in November. They're pretty nice units.

It's not HaHa time....
I used to live in Spyglass, started out with a one bedroom (boyfriend had the apartment when we met) then we moved to a two bedroom apartment right next to the path to the beach. A little annoying sometimes at night but I loved the place none the less. Every one was friendly and never had an issue with crime. I admit it was a tad expensive but definitely worth it. Not sure what it is like now tho...

My wife and I live in Park Villas. The apartments are newer - about 5-6 years old or so. Nice and quiet in the complex. We have a State Trooper that lives near us and "conveniently" parks his car here at night which helps immensely. Yes, they are a bit more expensive than some of the other places around. Close to the base (about 1.5 miles to Gate 2) helps as well. We have a 2 bedroom with about 1000-1100 sqft. We have been told by the Property Manager that they do not accept Section 8 here either.

If we were not moving back to Pittsburgh in a couple of weeks, we would have renewed our lease for another year with no problems.

I live in Wildewood. No complaints here but technically we're renting from family so I wouldn't say ours is the usual situation as far as housing in the area goes.

Don't confuse Great Mills Road at night with Lexington Park!!! Lots of nice safe areas!!!

I'm sure some areas are fine but i really dont want to live somewhere that "some" of the areas are ok. I want to feel safe all of the time.

"some" of waldorf is ok but I would not live there either.

That doesn't make any sense, if you live in an area that is safe, it means it's safe. Now if you decide to get in your car and drive somewhere that is not safe, it's your fault!!!

I live in Hickory Hills and have had no issues with crime. I'm originally from Silver Spring so if you want to talk crime that place is full of it. But none of it matters to me anyway I am Jacksonville bound in two weeks. I got an apartment twice the size for $400/month less... Screw the cost of living here...
