That doesn't sound like a bad deal. We installed a large window in our master bathroom to bring in more light. Hubby and FIL installed it themselves and total cost was about $300 - most of that was the window.

When I replaced my windows, I got an estimate from SoMD Windows and Siding. I was initially lured by their low prices. They came to my house, and brought a sample window that had the insulation strips hanging between the pains where it had come un-secured. When I asked about it, they said it was "just a sample window" that had been toted around for a long while. My thought was that the insulation should still be able to stay put! I also got an estimate from A&M Glass in Lexington Park. GREAT customer service, their windows were only slightly higher - but I didn't buy their cheapest model, one step up from the cheapest. I did my windows several years ago, and they are wonderful! They also tilt in to clean (not that I've ever used this function). :lmao:

All of the companies and GC's listed so far will likely be installing the "no name" standard vinyl double pane window. If you want a name brand window and something that will last, go with Andersen. They are the best for the money you are going to spend. They will cost you [at least] double what the vinyl units are going to cost, buy you won't be complaining about the Andersen's in two years, and they will be around to stand behind their warranty.

I used Southern Maryland Windows & Siding out of Calvert county (Solomons) and they charged me $275 per window and they did the work themselves, no contractors. They did it last December and they did a great job so the price should be close unless it went up for some other reason. They are at 800.876.3348 The windows are double hung, tilt for cleaning and vinyl. Hope this helps you. :howdy:

I had them about 7-8 years ago replace all my windows. Back then it was about $235 a window, it was just Mickey and his son who did the work, they did a great job. :yay: :yay:

Just my opinion, I'd never use Long's to do anything, I did call them originally and they came first and wanted something like $13,000, called Southern Maryland and got the job for about $4500. I had like 4 estimates and Long's was at least $4,000 more then the next closest.

Southern Maryland Windows & Siding has been selected to replace my windows. These windows from Perfect Fit are exactly what I want. They are replacing 12 windows, 2 of which were not going to be in the orininal estimate, and they came in my budget range. The warranty is one I'm happy with and, yes, they do their own work. No need to pay the middleman. Thanks for all the suggestions. I know if I ever have any questions I can find an answer here. :yay:

Must have learned it from his dad, wonder if Mickey is still installing, or has the son taken over.
I take it that the Dad had some medical problems and is only doing administrative duties now. Tony is doing the installing and his Mom is the office boss. :yay: Great people.
