Just got the first ding in the windshield. I guess 2yrs isn't bad for as far as our car is driven everyday. I was wondering if anyone knew of a good repair place in the Lusby/Solomons area? TIA

You can buy a repair kit from any automotive store and fix it yourself for about $10.00
Which automotive store? We stoped at the one in Prince Frederick and they didn't have repair kits.

You can also check with your insurance provider. Most will fix a chip under dime size for free, with no impact on your insurance rates.

He'll come to you. If it's just a ding and no crack, he can fill it for around $30 give or take a few bucks. If it's a crack, you'll probably need your windshield replaced and the cost depends on car/make/etc. Insurance will cover it, but check your policy - some policies require you pay the deductible first.

I drive back and forth to dc and average a new windshield every year.

Have it professionally fixed, as hunter1 said, insurance usually covers the whole $50.

Definately call your insurance company and have it professionally done. The kits you can buy at the auto parts store are no where near as good, and has been said already, why pay $10 when you can get your insurance company to foot the bill. They will even waive your deductible if it can be repaired over replaced.

Also, Safelite will repair windshield cracks up to the size of a dollar bill.

I had a small chip in my windshield and took it in to be fixed, not by any mentioned so far, and I was surprised that after they were finished it looked just about the same. You could see where a type of glaze was put over it but for some reason I was thinking it would be a lot less noticeable. Did I get taken or is this normal?

The repair is not going to make the damage totally disappear.

There are a lot of factors involved with doing a windshield repair, such as the amount of damage and how long the chip was there. Best case senerio would be that it would end up looking like a bug hit the windshield there, worst case, it looks like nothing has been done. The inportnat thing is that the process seals the crack and prevents it from spreading further.

im sorry but this is just not true. there are alot of places that do not do windshield repair well. if the technician gets all the air out, then the repair will look much better. if it just looks like the top was sealed, and you can still see the crack or the bullseye like it was never done, there is air trapped in there. dont go to a glass shop in this area. find someone who specializes in windshield repair. do a google search and find someone who has NEVER replaced a windshield, but rather fixes them for a living, such as a guy that goes to used car lots and works for them. if he messes up there, he's gonna get fired. find an expert in his trade!!
