Winners and losers

So I revise my statement, give me a small loan of a couple million dollars, and give me the primary interest in and executive control over a several hundred million dollar corporation and I might be able to make a an even greater success of myself than my previous active retirement goal.

Here's another take on it:

You could be the child of immigrants who worked hard and got all the education you could, then you could parlay a small loan of a few hundred dollars into a few thousand dollars, with which you launch a construction company, then you can build houses and apartment buildings and get rich. Then you could lend your son some money to start his business endeavors, which become very successful, and then your kid can eventually become President of the United States.

:peace:

(I'm funning you - I do get what you're saying.)

Well I wasn't actually comparing my success to Trump's, just putting it out there that an equivalent windfall (whether it be $1M in 1970s money equivalent in todays dollars) would probably be enough for me to make myself a winner (which in my mind means retired young but still active).

But your post prompted me to look a into Trump's loan, and regardless of size (1M up to as much as 14M depending on who you ask), it was provided AFTER trump had already been handed the reigns to the "Elizabeth Trump & Son" corporation, which was worth only a few hundred million at the time).

So I revise my statement, give me a small loan of a couple million dollars, and give me the primary interest in and executive control over a several hundred million dollar corporation and I might be able to make a an even greater success of myself than my previous active retirement goal.

Look up Sarah Breedlove. Born in 1867. It's a good read.

You don't need money to make money. Does it help? Well, is the Pope Catholic? But, is it necessary? Is the Pope Jewish?

You could feel that the quote was about money, which it was not. You could feel victimized that you haven't yet received a loan for $1M. Or, you could appreciate the quote for what it is - a note about making opportunities out of problems instead of wallowing in problems.

The choice is really yours.

If someone gave me a "loan" of a couple mil, I would never work another day in my life, except for fun. I would do what I'm doing now, maybe on a grander scale: travel and see things and see people and be amazed by this awesome country. The only thing that would change is I wouldn't have to budget (although I probably would anyway because I love a deal).
