for those of you that care for ferals...or have outdoor kitties this is a really cool idea for an inexpensive outdoor shelter... i was looking for shelter ideas cuz someone dumped off a pregant momma at my house and altho all my animals are spayed .. I am now the proud owner of 3 kittens.. If anyone can help me find info on very low cost spay please let me know.. I am working with a very limited income, but there is no way i will take them to a kill shelter.

* not sure if u can see in the pic but they used the sheets of foam insulation around the inner box

wow great idea, the cats are so adorable. I think there is a place near the farmers market that PAWS might be able to help you with and there was a place a while ago in the park, near underground tattoo also.

Why don't you bring the cats in the house and let them live with you inside? They are so adorable :).

Hi there!! How very nice of you to take care of these Kitty's. I have done the same for MANY cats/kittens in the county both feral and domesticated. I use the Well pet Clinic in Lexington park for low cost spay and neuter. A young male cat is $25.00 and a female is $40.00, Once they have reached maturity the price is $35.00 for a male and $50.00 for a female. They will work with you also so that everyone can get a rabies vaccine too. Their phone number is 301-866-0303. They are closed on Sundays and Mondays and do not open until 2 on Tuesdays. Let me know if you need any help.

And I have also been told that SMAWL will give spay and neuter vouchers to those that have a low income but I have never looked into that option. May be worth looking into also. Whatever you decide to do also keep in mind that time is not on your side and they will start to reproduce very rapidly. I also have a feral cat trap should you ever need to borrow one and the Well Pet Clinic does as well.

guess we can expect rabid cats there next

Instead of being so negative why not put some $$ where your attitude is and make a donation to whatever vet this person uses to help with the cost of the rabies and spay/neuter.
