It was a light with several lights on it. Not sure the wattage.
I was taking them in the no flash mode. What would you recommend?

Try putting a sheet of white paper (or something translucent) between the ceiling light and the merry-go-round horse. Hopefully that will diffuse the light enough to get rid of the shadow.
Of course this will make things darker, so slow down the shutter speed.
If you like the shadow try shifting the box about 45 degrees so the shadow is not so aligned.

I might go out to get some white foam board today and try and redirect lighting.

Lusbymom, sorry. I was asking Cablechick what her setup was. I forgot to quote her comment.

Nice job. THe shadow is a little problem. If you get some lights setup close to the sides, and diffuse it with paper, or even tissue type paper, this will give light all around the item and get rid of the shadow.

Very nice! I like the subject. Another light lighting the front up a little would make a big difference I think.

Yes it would be nice to have a good front light. I will have to go see what I have laying around in the basement utility room.

Finally made a quick light box. Only had a light source for one side and the camera flash.
