I agree. The only times my cable was down, I also had no electricity. My cable always comes up before the electricity.crabcake said:The words "Support" and "DirecWay" do not belong in the same internet. They were about worthless every time I ever called them.
Well I tried everything, but - no luck. I was able to directly connect the cable to the satellite to go on the Internet, before sticking the router in between, so I was able to read your suggestions, among other things. Basically, I can't figure out how to configure ANYTHING on the DW6000 that is related to IP addresses and so on - only on how to configure the satellite itself - which I'll never do without tech support. So I just put the old router in place.Steve said:Good luck, then! I just read the spec sheet for the DW7000 and - assuming you have this version of satellite router/modem - I think I might know the answer to your problem. The following guidance will also apply to the DW6000.

Here's the kicker - THAT still works. So somehow, I have the old router configured in such a way that it works with the DW6000 configured AS IT IS. This is a "guess" - but I read something about a setting called DHCP pass-through that I think tells the DW6000 to just shut up and let the router do the talking (because I was NEVER able to turn off DHCP on the DW6000 with either router).
Anyway - it'll have to do until my wife's next trip - she has online classes, and I can't let that ever be disturbed while she's home.
Thanks for your help.
To answer your first question - I have no idea. I'd have to physically move a lot of computers just to test that. In any case, all of the wireless computers in the house have access to the Internet with the previous router, which I re-installed.Schizo said:Can you plug in any computer to the satellite modem and access the internet? If not, the modem is locked to the MAC address of your computer that's working.
If the MAC is locked to one particular address, you can "clone" the MAC address of the computer to the router.
But, you said that AOL IM seems to work... try running FIREFOX when AOL works, wonder if IE isn't set up to automatically configure internet access.
Not sure what you're asking. Why would I want both? I was trying to replace the old one, because it is 802.11b. The new one is 802.11g.Oz said:I still think you need to contact Direcway and tell them you're changing routers.
But, can you uplink your wireless router from your current router, and just run both?
Also, DirecWay in the past has been unsupportive of attaching wireless to their networks. They do not generally provide support for them - they would much prefer you pay them to do it for you.Oz said:I still think you need to contact Direcway and tell them you're changing routers.
