Wireless Pet Containment Device

Does anyone have one of these? We are looking at getting a lab puppy but wanted to get the fence first. While looking at electric fences I came across the PetSafe Wireless containment device. It says it does the same thing as an electric fence without having to lay all of the wires. Sounds kinda shady to me????????????

Do some research before buying one...while it MAY stop your dog from getting out of area, it won't stop other dogs/animals from coming in.

Friend of mine has one and it works good. You can adjust the radius, it sends out the signal if a circle so that could be a drawback depending on your yard.

Thanks for the info. I just wanted to make sure it did work. I live on a small private road so i'm not that concerned about other animals. The neighbors have a St. Bernard that comes to visit everyday. We love him and want him to come in so our puppy can have friends.

If you do get it one thing to keep in mind is placement of the unit. Test it out by putting it in different places in the house, might swing your curve in one direction or the other to allow a little more range.

I have one that works great. Absolutely loved it! My dog loved it too! My only problem and why I am not using it now, is that my neighbor started letting her dog roam the neighborhood, and my dog chased her through the fence, so I am waiting for my neighbor to get the hint from all of us that she needs to control her dog, then I will retrain my dog. It really works well though. ANd you can take it with you!

I read online that if you have a large yard you can get two units, place them where the circles overlap, and the dog can go anywhere within the two circles without getting a shock. Does your friend have one or two units?

We have one. IT IS WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Buy it on eBay for less than Petsmart/Petco.

Extra batteries (proprietary design) are way cheaper on eBay than dirt stores.

Radio Shack had the best prices on batteries, like $2.50 a piece

And when the St. Bernard leaves?

This is a good point, a lot of times if a dog runs through the electric fence, they will not come back in because of the shock.
