World of Warcraft expansion released today

Not sure how many will care, but seeing as how this is the MOST anticipated expansion release EVER, I thought I would bring it up.

World of Warcraft (WoW) was released just over two years ago and since then has had the largest sales of any game ever. With over 8 MILLION players world-wide, it has taken off. With the new expansion, they are releasing two new races and two new professions. The level cap has been raised from 60 to 70.

If you start realizing why all the pizza faced teenagers have stopped walking around the neighborhood, you now know why....they are sitting in their basements playing WoW: TBC!

Pizza faced teenagers? You're kidding, right?

My adult, white-collar working husband just called me to giddily brag that he'd gone to Gamestop on his lunch break to buy it. It's like crack to the middle aged man, and the bane of every wife's existence. I'm not alone. There is an entire growing subculture of WoW Widows like myself who never see their videogame addicted husbands anymore. I hate that stupid game.

Yes....as part of the WoW community...I neither am a teenager nor a "pizza face." I meant it as a joke....its kinda funny/sad how many marriages and families have been torn apart from this game!

Haha, yes it is a real game....and sadly the South park episode portrayed some hardcore WoW'ers to a T.

Weekend LAN parties? How about everynight LAN parties. So. MD definatly isn't as "wired-in" as some places...but we used to have LAN parties nightly in the computer lab at school and still do every friday night at a few peoples house's over St. Mary's.

CS: Source, HL2: DM, WoW, URT, etc...

At least if he were never home I'd be able to have all of my other boyfriends over.

Seriously, though, that's exactly how he justifies it. "Would you rather that I stayed out all night at some bar with my buddies, or sit at home on the computer?" It's kind of hard to argue with that, but it's a bit of a false dichotomy. I'd rather him spend a REASONABLE amount of time playing video games, as opposed to five or six hours each night. Unfortunately, Blizzard manufactured World of Warcraft in such a manner that in order to achieve anything within the game, one must dedicate ridiculous amounts of time to it.

And for the record, it's not just an affliction that affects men. If I'm not mistaken, the largest proportion of female players of any MMORPG are WoW players. I'm sure their significant others are equally irritated. (Either that, or they're sitting in the basement playing right along with them...)

Back when I lived in Richmond, when had a game server and small network in a buddies basement. We would take our computers over there friday night, play till Sunday. 8 of us linked linked at one time. Sometimes we had something small during the week, but work usually got in the way.

Xbox live is much easier...

Dayum, here I've been experiencing adventures in real life all this time when all I had to do was buy a game. Gee I could be fat, lazy and never leave the house and still get to experience the thrills and excitement relying on my reflexs and skills for survival.

Doesn't knowing you can just start over if you get killed take away from the realisim?

I think there is a better way to look at it....the largest proportion of any sex MMORPG'er is playing WoW.
