Would giving 301 a "freeway" style setup releive congestion? (or at least help?)

Another question--wasn't Mattawoman-Beantown Road supposed to be the Waldorf bypass?

(Woman screams upon seeing a snake, man runs out and yells, "Whatsa matta, woman?")

What's the SHA definition of "through"? People heading from Virginia north to Baltimore or vice versa?

Yes. SHA has determined that most of Waldorf's traffic is local, meaning folks going to the mall, or to the restruants, or other businesses along the Rt. 301 Corridor. This explains why Waldorf is rapidly approaching gridlock during weekends.

Yes, but for going to St. Mary's County. People traveling to Pax River don't have to deal with 301 & 5 through Waldorf. Mattawoman-Beantown road was never intended to be a bypass for those heading to La Plata or Virginia.

Can't they do something with St. Charles pkwy???? It seems like that was going around Waldorf till they started building up around it....and down by Demarr Road where it ends....it's unfinished it looks like...take it down and connect it to Washington Ave. Behind the MSP barraks.

St. Charles Parkway is going to be extended to La Plata, but it will connect at Rosewick Road and Radio Station Road. Still, that wouldn't make for a good bypass. I'd hate to see all of that traffic through a mostly residential area. It would be asking for trouble.

Yeah true, it sucks we have a limited space to work with here.

I think the 301 bypass should link and 301 be done just as it is in Clinton. 235 should also be an expressway, lord knows that everyone does at least 60-65 mph and the limit is 40. You would just be hard pressed to convince county folk to commit to overpasses, underpasses and what not, but the future is coming, and gridlock is all we have for now

The bypass would just be a waste of money. The only option for 301 is the overpasses just like they did on Route 5 in Clinton/Camp Springs. Of course, we'll never see anythign like that because it makes too much sense.
