sure why not You let them sit next to you at church and NASCAR races. You work with them every day your kids go to school with their children. There are more of them around then you think YES even here in Southern MD.

Really? I've never seen a KKK member in my life except for on TV. For all I know, it's a media creation.

You'd think there would be an exemption for hate groups. Free speech is all well and good, but they shouldn't be allowed to advertise on a public highway, which is what those litter sponsorships amount to. But I suppose then we'll want to have some retarded "national debate" on what constitutes a "hate group".

(Ouch! I've been doing that a lot today. Elaine, grab my eyeball, would ya? I think it flew under your chair.)

I would think the phrase "We hate ######" in their charter would be defacto proof.

Yes the KKK is here, but never really made much headway in this area due to their anti-Catholic views. If I recall correctly, another chapter of the KKK tried this in Anne Arundel county a few years back. AA county just dropped the whole adopt-a-highway program rather than let the Klan join.

I think if you need your name on a sign to pick up trash then you are doing it for the wrong reason. That goes for all the groups that want to pick up trash. If you want to make it a better place by picking up trash good for you but why do you need a sign for everyone to see what a great organization you are.

Figures. They should have made a referendum disallowing hate groups from participating in the Adopt-A-Highway program, then put it to a vote. The People speak, and that's the end of that nonsense.

Unfortunately, I know who a few of them are down here. Only because they asked my dad to join when he first moved to the area. Dad wasn't interested but it took some serious diplomacy to get out of it. He didn't know if they were as powerful a group as here as they were in his hometown. He definitely sweated it out for months. In the end it was no problem.

BTW, if they stuck a sign on the side of my road that had KKK on it, they'd be replacing it every day.
