Aww, relying on that trusty jobs report from an administration known for fudging the numbers. I guess all this help wanted signs that I see in store fronts up and down the east coast are BS. Unfortunately the OP isn’t the only dim person in the country to believe what comes out of the White House.

The unemployment numbers have been almost meaningless since the 90s.

The labor participation rate is the only remaining data that might, might, provide something meaningful.

I remember in the early 90's when they decided to redefine it and I remember shaking my head when I heard it.
Of course, now I am going to have to look up the difference.

Admittedly - defining unemployment is a tough call - when you've been unemployed for so long, that unemployment has run out, your savings are dry, and you are living at home with parents or relatives hoping to contribute when you can - oh you're unemployed - you're just not being counted as one.

I suspect however, that the "truth" is closer to the U-6 number than the U-3 number.

In ANY case -

VERY low unemployment rate numbers SHOULD be accompnaied by VERY HIGH new job numbers. That's why this whole thing is weird. In a strong, vibrant economy, new jobs are created at a great pace, and the low unemployment is a consequence of the growth, We're not seeing that - we're seeing an economy SHRINK and people not bothering to return to work.

Another knockout jobs report, 372k jobs added for June, unemployment down to 3.6%, wages year over year up 5.1%

Couple this with gas prices falling steadily over the last 3 weeks.

Tune out the negative doomsayers on here, most haven’t had a job this decade, it’s never been better to be a WORKING American!

You poor, dumb schmuck.

Yep! No one wants to work, look at the folks on here, they can post all day long but don’t have real jobs at companies.

“Oh but I’m retired, taking a break, I worked for 30 years that’s enough”

Give me a break, I’ve worked harder and longer than most and I’m still at it.
Yet, you find plenty of time to post.

I admire your commitment to your delusion.

Can they figure out if these job numbers are actually all the illegals coming in finding jobs . :sshrug:

I don't think BLS gets those numbers that way. I'd have to look them up. Most places I know that hire illegals do it under the table, and those numbers aren't going to be counted at all.

I think all work deserves respect.

I’ve seen many posts on here of people complaining about no staff at restaurants, but then lovely folks like you demean that same work.

Would love to see you stand behind a counter and deal with the American public for a single day, you wouldn’t have the energy to come home and spread your insults and venom on here.

I wasn't demeaning the work. I was demeaning you.

I've been in direct customer relations for well over 30 years. Don't you dare try to lecture me on standing behind a counter.

There was no question what you were doing, you were attempting to demean me by saying I had a job which you obviously feel should be an embarrassment.

You were demeaning fast food workers with your comment and the family guy gif; it’s cut and dry.

I stood behind a counter when I was around 15 to 16 and delt with plenty of people . But I realized that it was a dead end with no real future at 16
Got into a trade, learned a pretty good chunk of it and never looked back. You should try it crab balls.
