Wow, no Britney thread this a.m.?

 She is the one who calls and lets these people where she'll be. She is doing everything in her power to be on the front pages. She is not worthy of the slightest bit of sympathy.

She could end all of the hounding if she wanted to. She could let herself fade into obscurity. She couldn't stand for that to happen, so she will not let it.

I wasn't really talking about Brittney there. I was talking about the other people, like David Spade and Jessica Alba who obviously just were trying to get from one place to another in peace, and these a-holes were doing everything but physically restraining them on the streets.

It's friggin' ridiculous.

Now I get that these people deliberately seeked out the limelight and that this kind of thing goes with the territory, but IMO, just because you sought and found fame doesn't mean you should be harrassed by blowhard ****s every waking moment.

There really should be a law to stop this - but at the same time I really do think the ones we see on TMZ really seek it out for PR... it is damn near an addiction, or even a game for them.

It is sickening.

No there should not be a law. These people are providing a service that the public demands. Don't blame the press for giving you what you want. Blame yourself.

TMZ is not the problem. People who watch it on TV, read the tabloids, and click on the links are the problem. Put the blame on those who pay the bill - the consumers of the trash.

To each his own, I suppose.

I don't find anything entertaining about watching someone spiral downward.
She wants it in the news. Well, it's in the news and right now, it's the most interesting thing going on (next to McCain and Romney's pure hatred of each other).

It's just like reading JPC's posts.

These celebrities are all alike. They chase attention, going so far as to do reality shows and movies where the camera follows them around their real life. Then they complain that they can't get any privacy.

Duh.

Notice Tom Hanks doesn't show up in the tabloids? And he's an enormous star. But he probably doesn't alert the paparazzi every time he takes his wife out to dinner, either.

It's all fun and games until somebody loses an eyeball, then it's freakin' hilarious.

Mob rules.

That's the foundation this country was built on. :yay:

That's no different than blaming McDonalds for the obesity problem in the U.S. Why do you blame the people who sell the junk, while the person who snarfs their supersize fries while browsing TMZ gets a free pass?

Why do we need the nanny state protecting us from ourselves even more?

If the attention is unsolicited, I disagree - there should be some kind of law...

If the 'star' picked up the phone and call, then it does not apply... they get the hassling they deserve

TMZ and the tabloids are doing what any other business is doing - making money. It is all about the all mighty dollar. True, they are not the problem but I believe there should be some boundaries.

The paparazzi are obsessive about getting pictures or videos... the unsolicited hounding is ridiculous.

She wants to throw it out there for me to enjoy. If that's the case, I feel no remorse for enjoying it! She wants it to be headline news and for it to be on 24/7 cable outlets, and it is.

Keep up the great work Britney. :yay: You have one hell of a movie script going here. :jet:

With the writers on strike, there's no new television. So, Britney took it upon herself to write an excellent script. Well, I'm enjoying it.

Is true. Unfortunately it is.. people seem to have the need to know what these people they see in TV and the movies are doing with their personal lives. Really they are people just like the rest of us in the world. Makes NO sense to me.
I'd like to turn on the news and see real local stories, not headlines about Brittney and that dude who died in NY..

I disagree. These celebirties want everyone to know who they are.

People take pictures of their friends. Wouldn't you get a snapshot of a celebirty if you saw them. It's human interest.

Everybody knows them, just as they like it. Are they the only ones who should be able to profit off their success. If someone gets a picture of these celebirties and sells it, what's the problem? Quick, easy money. :yay:

People make money off of other people all the time. Authors, artists, modeling agencies, writers, Time Warner, etc. Technology companies make money off of other peoples' ideas.

If I come up with an invention, should I be the only one allowed to profit off of it? I would feel that way, but nobody else would.

It's America. These celebirties need to suck it up and deal with it.

I'm not enjoying Britney's downward spiral at all. It's too pathetic for me to enjoy. If she was honestly going to get some help this time I'd be all for it, but it's going to be just another ploy to get the media attention and it's already working. If by some miracle it isn't I'd be shocked! If she really wants attention then let her get her mental illness under control - and yeah she is definitely mentally ill - get back in shape and go kick butt like she used to do. What? Takes too much effort? Oh, my bad!

Me, or is that the general "you"?

I blame the consumers as much as the providers. That's why I don't watch that tripe. I think it's disgusting television, and I want nothing to do with it.
