When we first started the forums 14 years ago, I had no idea this sort of thing still existed because I wasn't exposed to it. My friends don't talk that way or have those attitudes, and the people I came into contact with on a casual basis didn't talk like that either.
Now, of course, I realize that indeed there is still redneckery in the world.

I will say this: I will associate with very few blacks in the county because I get along with very few. But those who I do get along with, are respecteful, well-spoken people and therefore I cannot agree with the OP's suggestion of bars weeding out the "trouble" based on race. I've seen many a car fight started by a white guy.
Now, on the other hand of my associating with very few blacks - there are some whites in the county I will not associate myself with because of their racism, etc. I just like and get along with "normal" people... regardless of race.

That right there busts the reasoning behind your generalization. As far as the blacks in Calvert having a racist attitude… Honey, you’re going to find that everywhere. I’ve worked in DC, New Carrolton, and now Bethesda. I’ve caught the metro in Largo, New Carrolton and Suitland countless times… I cant even begin to tell you about the dirty looks I get for being the only white woman (white person, for that matter) on the train. Racism is everywhere, not just in Calvert County. And not all black in CC have that attitude. Just like not all whites in CC (or anywhere else) are racist (or not).
I HATE that. I hate being stared at (no matter the race of the guy doing the staring) for longer than what can be considered flattering. I hate the “shorty” comments, etc. I hate it when I get scoped out head to toe especially with my boyfriend at my side. It is disrespectful to me and to him. I will note, however, that I normally find that black males do this more than any other race. So when I voice my distaste for their actions/comments, they pull the race card and get mad at me.
Jeez… its ridiculous. A few months back I was at McDonalds in Chesapeake Beach (not my fav place but I live there so its convenient). The guy who rung me up, black male around the age of 18-20, followed me outside and asked for my number. I smiled and said “Aww thank you, but I don’t think my boyfriend would be too fond of me giving out my number.” I thought that may do the trick, as it usually does with respectful guys. But not this one! He was like “He don’t have to know.” I got kinda pissy and said “Uhhh, well my boyfriend just so happens to be the father of the child I am carrying so actually, you’re just plain not getting my number.” He got all sarcastic and said “So you think he’ll be a good Dad or somethin?” I got sooo angry (Im blaming the hormones at the time LOL)… I came at his so fast, got right up in his face and said “You think you’ll do better?! Boy, you’re a KID who works at McDonalds! You need to adjust your respect level for women and learn to take a HINT.” He was like “Its cause Im black aint it?” I was so mad I coudltn even speak – I just shook my head, muttered to myself, walked to my car and stuffed my face with my hot fudge sundae with extra hot fudge (lol)

Sounds like you got a man hood issue, you afraid they are going to put her in a trans and take her from you. Best to ignore it because she surely is. You actually got a lady in Southern Maryland that is worth looking at? All men stare at women all the time, nothing new. I like seeing a good looking lady come in a store and watch all the men that are with their less good looking lady sneak peaks

Really? I am from Va Beach Va and there are more racist people there then here. You can't even walk on the board walk or atlantic ave ( where all the bars and shops are) without someone saying something racist or nasty. I have had a few issues with people here black and white and i'm white. I just remember i have bail money, i go home to my husband, and my kids got more then they need.

All i can say is that there is racism with every race and that is never going to change rather anyone likes it or not but there is something that we all can agree on is that we all are human... But I will admit that some people white and black act completely and utterly insane and ignorant. But that doesn’t mean that the whole race is that way just because of one person but if you want to really look into the matter what race do you see mostly in pictures on the bay net for a crime. I’m not racist but I’m just stating what I see that’s all.

A guy working a McDonalds is not good enough for you LOL. Just think of all the free cheesburgers and fries he can provide for the family.
No man hood issue hear, as I stated it is a respect thing. No one seems to have that anymore. Yes I have a gorgeous girl and im sorry you do not, since you seem to think there are no good looking women in somd. Yeah there are some really f'ed up looking imbreds in the area lol just have to stay away from those parts of town

A girl should not be alone at night these days, too much crazy stuff going on. Look at the recent incident in Waldorf, that lady gets in a car with 3 strange men and got sexually abused.

Nothing wrong with being a redneck. Nothing wrong with having pride in one's race.
Neither is a sure sign of racism, although some people use the word redneck in the place of racist.
These same people who do that would never think of calling a black a racist.
It's just those ignorant white rednecks who want to go out and have a good time without being harrassed by the black ladies and gentleman who are always being picked on and arrested because they are a different color.
Of course they are all innocent, and their inappropriate numbers in prisons and jails proves they are being picked on.
Southern Maryland is no more racist than Baltimore or Washington DC or Atlanta or Philadelphia. Where whites ran out of to avoid being with blacks.
We are where they ran to ,and we have our backs against the wall. They came here and brought their racism with them.St. Mary's County residents bear the brunt of the racism charges, but much of it came from elsewhere.
Prince George's fell when Whites moved out of Washington, Then Waldof fell when whites moved out of Prince George's, The northern end of St. Mary's fell when whites abandoned Waldorf. Why did they run? Where can they run now?
Southern Maryland isnt the ony recipient of these Whites who ran.
Harpers Ferry got some, Frederick got some, the Northern Neck got some.All around Washington grew as Whites fled. There were few communities or Suburbs that grew because blacks started moving to them.They grew from white flight.
The funny thing is that many who ran will not admit why they ran.And Montgomery County got a lot of those who ran and they completely deny their reason for running.Montgomery got the rich runners who hide their racism behind gold chains. The ones who say build low cost housing, just don't build it next to me.
There will always be racism. There will always be class envy or class warfare.
There will always be low class and high class and race is no factor there.
There is always some low class trash, white or black, that will attend places that sell entertainment and these people will spoil the fun for others. Alcohol tends to bring out the low class quicker ,but when you sit in a theater and cannot hear for the noise or people are stretching their feet over the seat in front of them you might stop thinking of it as black or white and think of it as class. LOW Class.

I try very hard to not be racist and not to generalize a race off of a few's actions, etc. But I must agree with this.My Dad does commercial and residentail electrical work in MD, VA and DC. He was speaking to a customer in DC (who happened to be black) about the neighborhood. The customer was saying how he wants to move out to the country because of all the Mexicans moving in - The kids are tearing up the neighborhood, the crime rates are rising and its just not a nice place to live anymore.
My Dad said "Now you know how the white folks felt when the blacks all moved into (and took over) DC."
I was like HOLY SHYT Dad! You cant say that LOL! Supposedly the customer was kinda of shocked that my Dad said it, but laughed and said "I see your point."Men don't play that ####, we would get up and confront the fags butt in a minute. Hmmm did I say that correctly LOL

so what your saying is that its a class issue, well im in the governments mind consider low class, I live in income based housing, and have no kids but my bf and I just happened to not make as much as some people but that doesn’t mean we are trashy just because we are “low class” I am not disrespectful like some people which is what this WHOLE post is about which is respect its not a race thing it’s a RESPECT thing but the OP did kind of turn into the race department which it shouldn’t have gone.
