I would have done exactly the same thing. Carrying 15 puppies to birth would have been incredibly difficult, not to mention how hard it would be to place 15 little doggies.
I know nothing about dogs and am not trying to start a flame war of any kind.
Why is this the right thing? Is it simply not bringing the unwanted puppies into the house or is there a health risk to the dog for carrying so many?
15 Pups? You did do the right thing, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Hope Momma is doing well. I'll bet it cost you extra for the Spay too. Well wishes to her.Took the new Pup to the vet today to get spayed.
Just got a call from them letting me know that she is pregnant.
Early stage and they are counting 15 babies.
It was a tough decision but they have been aborted.
Let the hate posts begin.

I hate you!
Not sure about the health risk, but, if you cant take care of 15 puppies, feeding them, vetting them, etc. not to mention trying to find responsible owners for 15 puppies, then you shouldnt bring them into the world. There are too many unwanted dogs and cats now because people dont do the right thing by their pets.
Vet called back.
Out of surgery and Pup is doing well.
17 total. (wow)
Dr. estimates she was about 4 weeks along, so she was already knocked up when we adopted her.
The farm she was on had 2 male Great Pyrenees.
I bet those puppies would of been beautiful.
Most of them would not have survived to full term.
