WTH... DC folks?

There been the fighter jets flying over head for the past 30 min... and its very scary... Does anyone else hear them or know why they are doing this... I havn't heard it this bad since shortly after 9/11 -- it's very disturbing... it comes in sounding louder and louder and louder and then disappates, and then it does it again... anyone else hear it here in DC??? It's scaring the crap out of me...

I don't know...wasn't the U.S. building in Saudi attacked by terrorists yesterday or something or other :shrug: maybe that's it... I'm still haering it and it's very loud... usually on days you can hear them if you were trying to but today it's more than one and flying real low... I believe these are the fighter jets... after going out on the roof and looking up.

I received the following information about an hour ago:

The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMTA) reports that the Pentagon Station is closed.

The statement on the WMTA web site reads:

The Pentagon station is closed to investigate a potential hazmat situation. Hazmat experts are responding to the scene. No trains are permitted to go through the station. Trains are turning back at Arlington Cemetery and Pentagon City.

The Pentagon Bus Transit Center is also temporarily closed. Free bus shuttle service is being established to take Bus Transit Center customers to Pentagon City to catch their buses there.

When we have more information we will provide it to you.

and just that quickly ...

An all clear has been announced at the Pentagon Metro station.

According to Alert DC, cleaning solvents triggered the chemical sensors in the station.

Normal Metro service should resume shortly

I think we just here it because we are soo high up and there isn't floors above us drowning it out... It's annoying as heck because it feels like we are just waiting for a loud boom or something....the printer started up behind me and I just about flew out of my seat

Who knows. As long as the planes are flying, you're safe. It's when they start coming down that you need to worry.

Relax, dems... they were just doing the traditional lunch time Petezaa flyover... I watched it via live feed... it was really cool, they even managed to make a big 'P' at one point... look for it on tonight's news coverage...

Who knows. As long as the planes are flying, you're safe. It's when they start coming down that you need to worry.

No doubt... I always see the planes behind the monument circle around before they land at Reagan National... for sanity purposes shortly after 9/11 when they were doing this again, I had to look for the wheels... that way if the wheels were down they intend on landing instead of crashing. :shrug:
