Has Bush made another brilliant comment about it yet? You know, one like his this morning about the attacks in Saudi? "The terrorists are on the move!" :yikes: I thought that 18 of the 19 terrorists on 9/11, were FROM Saudi? Where did they move from? Where are they going? Everybody, under your toilets!!!

Dems,

There is significant cloud coverage with the front moving in. The aircraft patrolling over DC normally fly between 17,000 and 21,000 feet but with the weather they are flying the patrols at a lower altitude (probably about 5,000 feet) to stay out of the goo. They will be louder because they are lower and closer to you. Just remember that the noise that you hear is the sound of freedom.

I wonder what kind of tiff could be started if they dropped a few million leaflets that explained that the awaiting virgins, were actually sacred yearling Heiffers.

I'm used to the normal sounding one's and this isn't the first cloudy day... as I still hear them but not to the degree they were this morning when they were under alert  The droning I hear now is just fine I can handle that... :huggy:

Good to know, thanks - Ken. I'm on the top floor of my building, they renovated the “attic” and now its called the penthouse. Just imagine an old attic dormer of a house; that's what its like up here but the walls and the part of the ceiling leading up to the peak of the roof are glass - ergo, those jets are damn loud up here!

Same here :yeahthat: It's very disconcerting. :frown: especially today when it goes from normal constant stressor to alert mode :frown:

No, we didn't go into alter mode here, it was more like...wondering what was going on, everyone kept working. I'd call it piked curiosity.

I didn't hear the planes today but I would have been nervous if I did. I know DC wasn't anything compared to NYC but I was terrified on 9/11. I had to walk from my building almost in Georgetown all the way to L'Enfant Plaza with the jets screaming overhead. It wasn't a fun experience.

they were over here -- sirens, cops, etc... but I guess it's because I'm on Pennsylvania ave. or something

Time for a nap
I heard helos (not aircraft) flying around Chinatown earlier...

I guess after you see the helicopters/planes from DCA fly at eye level past your house every day, it becomes second nature.

Wow!!! That's quite a hike... I drove in that day - wish I had known you then... it was still a 5 + hour commute in the grid lock and yes it was terrifying and then they brought in all the rocket to air missles or whatever those were... things will never be the same here in DC ever again for those of us that were here. :frown:

I work close to Chinatown and heard the helicopters also, but they came after the jets/air planes. I'm hoping it was just an emergency drill some type.

Wow!!! As if there's not enough stress here today :tantrum:
They made us evacuate the building ... :tantrum: I had to walk down 13 flights of stairs (26 flights in increments of 2 per floor, round and round and round, etc.) in effn' heels and all the while hearing the blaring PA system say "There's been a fire reported in the building, please leave by the nearest exit!!!!, there's been a fire reported in the building!!!!... woooot!!!!... wooooot!!!!.." and we all got bottlenecked and stood in the same place next to the blaring alarm... :frown:
