Mike Shanahan fired | WJLA.com

The Washington Redskins have fired head coach Mike Shanahan after four seasons, the team announced Monday morning. Shanahan was fired Monday morning during a 9 a.m. meeting with team owner Daniel Snyder. Under Shanahan, the Redskins finished the 2013 season with a 3-13 record, the second worst in the National Football League.

According to the Snyder cycle, it should be some clown act. Lets see, counting back...

Shanahan - okay
Zorn - clown
Gibbs - okay
Spurrier - clown
Schottenheimer - okay
Robiskie - clown act
Turner - okay

So I'm all in for the special teams coach(whateverhisnameis) to take over the reins.

Sally Jenkins had it right: Go hire Scott Pioli as GM. He helped build the Patriots and most of the Chiefs current roster.

Did she offer a rationale as to why he would want to work here?

I'm not a fan of hiring guys who have already done it for two reasons; once you've done it, you've climbed that mountain. Name me a head coach who won super bowls somewhere else after winning, as head coach, at a prior team. There isn't one. Not one. Vermeil got there with different teams, but had lost prior to the Rams. That's it.

And, two, once you've done it, everyone knows what you did and how you did it. You're no longer the hungry, young innovator coming up with the new angle, the new way to beat the old way.

The Redskins are just not oriented towards winning. Snyder would like to but, what he knows how to do it market and promote and that is the one thing the Washington Redskins haven't needed in over 40 years.

Whose next for us?

Gruden?

i dont think there is a retread left that would take a spot at the redskins. The best we might be able to do is a jay Gruden, and even someone like that might not want to take it.

You have to remember, most of these guys already said no to Danny boy 4 years ago.

How about RGIII's Dad? I hear Danny likes him too, not in the biblical sense though.

Here's what we know about Snyder when it comes to coaches; if you're not interested, he wants you.

Norv wanted to be here; fired.

Robiskie was an early growing pain.

Marty "I would NEVER work for an owner like Dan Snyder" So, Dan pays him enough, including guaranteed money even if he fires him.

Spurrier. Zero interest in leaving college. Snyder simply offered more than Spurrier could turn down.

Gibbs. Zero interest. Snyder made him the highest paid and allowed him 273 assistants.

Zorn. Sure as hell wasn't his idea to go from QB coach to head guy for a team he had no clue about.

Shanny; Snyder has been, courted him for well over a year and broke his 'no kids on the staff' Marty rule to seal the deal.

That's why Gruden makes sense to me; no interest. So, Snyder makes him the same offer he can't refuse as he did everyone else. $10 million a season.

Snyders best hire has been Larry Micheals, a guy who, by all reports, works his butt off and simply wanted it so bad that he overcame all obstacles. THAT is the guy you want coaching but, when it comes to coaches, Dan wants someone who doesn't want him.
