Their technical name is Grackles.... :jameo: how do I get rid of them??? :jameo: All they do is hit the feeders, hit them hard, spitting out the stuff all over, acting like they havn't eaten' in weeks... and more importantly, they chase off all the other pretty birds??? They are food hogs and bullies... before the three bird feeders fully stocked would last a few days... now I'm having to fill them all EVERY day!! :jameo: :jameo: Also I noticed they seem to run with the cowbell birds.. :jameo: :jameo:

Leave the feeders empty for a few days and they will go away.

But that's not fair to the other birds  But worth the try... here's some pictures I got earlier of the prettier birds before the pigletts showd up  BTW, the redish one... is that a house finch or a purple finch?

Here's some more - I think the first picture is neat for color purposes in foreground v. background colors but birds are blurred... here's the finch in question (last pictures) but unfortunately its blured... I was waiting for it to come back then was invaded by grackles and cowbell birds. :frown:

Why is it okay to feed some birds and not others? My girlfriend is constantly trying to squirrel-proof her bird feeders and I'm like, why can't the squirrels eat, too?

Dems, the grackles get scared easily and will fly off. Just open a door, give a shout and they'll leave. The other birds will come back. We have them here. As soon as I open the sliding glass door, they hear the noise and fly off.

We feed the squirrels and blue jays tons of peanuts. I'm probably spending $40/month on peanuts. Keeps them off the feeders pretty much.

A 12 gauge works wonders

Actually I agree with Vrai, they all need to eat. Thistle seed in one feeder, sunflower in another and corn in the one for all the "pests"

But those grackles are such pigletts... they waste more than they actually eat which makes me fill the feeders every day... I like all animals (except for snakes) and don't mind feeding them all but gosh darn I've never seen such a wasteful animal as the piglett grackles... EVER....

If you have doves (we have a ton) they'll get the stuff off the ground that the piglets toss out.

The yellow ones are goldfinches. They are beautiful. I have a TON of them on my feeders at work. They like sunflower meats and thistle. The squirrels do not like thistle.
