That's what women get for demanding that the seat be left in the down position. If it had been up she might have avoided this hardship.

When we lived in Leonardtown we always saw snakes coming to and fro. One day, while my father was at work and us kids were at school my mother went out to the shed to grab a shovel to do some gardening. Upon walking up to the shed door she saw a king snake with yellow bands. My father had told her to stay still and the snake would go away, my mother followed this direction but the snake leaped at her and wrapped itself around her leg. She was bit once and she knew it so she took the shovel and stabbed at it while stabbing herself in the leg. After making it to the house she catches her breath and locks the door. She needs a cigarette and now after this trauma, but where in the hell are they? She looks outside to see the snake on the porch with the pack of cigarettes.:roflmao:

Well, it's also good that it didn't bite her son, who probably would have died -- as the article noted. You know, snakes and other "spooky" things live just about everywhere, so unless you lock yourself inside a bunker, there is a constant potential risk.

i've been bitten by a water moccasin on the arm...while the back half of her was squished on the road, and she was squirting out babies right and left, I wanted to save her babies and grabbed her tail to pull her out of the road, and WHAP she got me. My arm was numb ans swollen for about a week. Needless to say, I left her and her babies to fate.

Don't I know it! I've had a couple of close encounters with copperheads :yikes: and am on the constant lookout when I'm outside OR inside for critters. It's part and parcel for living in the country and I'd have it no other way. I may not like snakes particularly, but they're a vital part of the ecology and I leave them alone unless they try to hurt me or my loved ones.

I concur. If you choose to live in rural country there are some aspects that must be tolerated. It makes the lifestyle interesting. And the snakes are less likely to be a nuisance than your neighbors if you live in the city.
