Rocky Mountain High!!
WELL the kiddos wanted a puppy...so after much back and forth between the consenting adults in the house (me N Rottncop) we decided to find a sweet, laid back Jack Russell pup since the little one would be carrying it with her everywhere. Was there such a thing?? -YEP - and we found him. Bred by an Amish Family, who had his mum, dad, older brothers/sisters....you name it. ALL have super temperaments. They had 2 puppies left....little 2 ear who was the only one in the litter with color on both ears, and also described as "lazy" because he was so laid back, and his sister who beat everyone one up, was lightening fast and very dominant and snappy...so yep, we chose little 2 ear, plunked down our 200 bucks, and who on Christmas eve, became 2 Eared Jack...better known as Jack.
After 2 solid days of travel with the family, into the Mall, Tractor Supply (where he got to pick out his own cool doggy bed, balls, and squeakers etc.), and any number of relatives homes....we decided he is THE most laid back little fellow we have ever met.....AND....we think.....deaf as a doornail I really don't think he's playing the selective hearing *terrors* are noted for....because there isn't even a twitch of an ear when a sound is made, and he simply can't be awakened from slumber unless you touch him, the crate or his bed. If he's scratching at the door to come in, and has turned his back before i open the door, i have to wave for him to notice the door is open, and come inside.
Yep...backyard bred and yep we got what we paid for...a wonderfully sweet little doggie with a major issue. SO...any suggestions? Will he be safe with us? Horses, chickens, other dogs... We love his personality now, so returning him is not an option. but how to train a deaf doggie....well, we're at a loss.
