I don't get why this dog has to die an untimely death. It's not like he's sick or something. He just can't run loose, that's all.
I was factoring in the fact that his now lives on a farm with a variety of kids, horses and other animals. Add that to the nature of a Jack and I don't see this little dude being happy to be a house dog. It would also depend a great deal on how structured the kids (and parents for that matter) are and whether or not they will continue to pay attention to the wearabouts of said pooch year after year after year after... etc.

I have lots of land too, but I don't let my dogs run. I guess a farm setting is different. But, if you keep the dog then you owe it to the dog to make sure he's safe, he'd have to be treated differently.

I kinda grew up on a farm where every year we would have at least one cat born deaf. Usually the ones with one blue eye adn one green eye. Lots of foxes, coons, hawks and other predatory critters there never seemed to affect the well-being of our cats. My main concern, aside from being hit by a car( had a deaf Doberman lay in the road one hot summer day and get his butt killed) would be maybe having the horses accidentaly tromp on him (my gramma had her dog die this way) Good luck !!! don't even consider giving him up if you already love him. Another family might not treat him with such care and respect.

Well, according to the group pow-wow yesterday...he is staying. It's funny, the kids forget he's stone deaf, and talk to him like he can hear (well I'm even guilty of that ) I'm going to go back to the farm we got him from, plead the wheezies and ask for another puppy from their next litter to help us take care of him,....I'll post pix of him in a bit. GOOD GAWD he's NOT a morning puppy...when I wake him up to go out when I get up, he does all this yawning, and crazy looooong stretching, looking at me like I've lost my marbles for even trying to get him up, before he comes out of his snuggly warm bed...he fits right in here

Happy,

How well does he see? I see a white shading in the right eye and well, it just seems a little odd. It could just be your camera, but the cat's eyes show red and his doesn't. There is something called degenerative eye disorder?? think that is what it was, I had a pet that had it and the eyes looked similiar.

Catt? Appy?
Your expert opinion.

I didn't notice the shading, but his eyes struck me as odd just the same. They seem small and dull....

I noticed that too, and when I saw the white shading it made me wonder.
Just thought I'd ask.

The picture posted alone is where I see it. :ohwell:

It could just be the light and the camera too.
