Your kid's take -- what's the best summer camp in SOMD?

I know we have a few choices around here, and I read through the sticky at the top of this forum that lists all the various camps around the area. But, which one do your kids really enjoy? I need some coverage over the next couple of weeks and don't want to just send them to one that's run like a daycare. Did your kids walk away from any particular experience saying they had a great time? TIA!

It might be a bit late to get the choice camps. When my daughter was of camp age, I usually had to plan out most of the summer in advance to ensure her a spot. Good luck!

Yup, I'm definitely late on the draw. This was more of an unexpected thing (work stuff) that just popped up. There's always the option to tuck everyone under my desk with the Kindle for a few hours, but I thought they might have more fun in the light of day :lmao:

 Not sure where you are located, but you might try Parks & Rec. They have a few different locations.

Yes you are way late for summer camps,
Calvert Marine Museum has many awesome summer camps along with a few kids sailing camps in Solomons. My son did two sailing camps at the school on the Island along restaurant row where all the small sailboats are on the beach.

The only camp my daughter really enjoyed when she was younger, was Greenwell Horse Camp.
She didn't even really like the other camps at Greenwell - just the Horse one.

Those camps closed on Friday. My grandson was in one (it was great, activities and field trips). I have him until school starts.

Good to know. My Bug is 17, so I have been out of the camp business for several years now.

Black Belt academy in the Wildewood shopping center runs a camp all summer. During school they have before and after school programs, and they transport to/from each day. A friend of ours who is a single mom with a 6yr old did the before and after care at Evergreen elementary all last year as well as parks and recs camps, but she's now using BBA...it's cheaper and easier for her...might be worth checking out if you live in or near the Wildewood area.

All great suggestions! We did the camps at The King's Christian Academy earlier in the summer and my kids came home happy and tired every day...awesome combo. I did end up tucking them in a spare office for a couple of mornings this week, but today I sent them to the Yellow Door Art Studio in Leonardtown. They enjoyed it! I'll have to remember to look for the businesses that offer the two or three day sessions in the future for pop-up workdays or appointments. I had forgotten about the Black Belt Academy...I wonder if St. Mary's Dance Academy in the same shopping center also offer a day session? It would be great for the gymnastics center in Lexington Park to do something similar as well. My kids would be totally happy there for hours!
