Limbaugh is often credited with being the key voice in the GOP takeover of congress. .

He was part of it. However, there is no getting around the presence of Newt and I mean intellectual presence, argumentative presence. Rush couldn't have helped just anyone win whereas Newt and the GOP may have won without Limbaugh.

In any event, the problem with Rush is that he has allowed the GOP to use him like a blow up doll for over two decades, supporting them, blindly and a consequence, one Newt left the stage there has been no BIG personality to take the GOP reigns and, by default, it has in far too many ways been Rush and other talk radio types. Rush made it clear, day one, when he supported Milquetoast 41 over fiery Buchanan that he was a party man first and that means over the nation as well.
