Never Trump Republicans to Spend Millions on Ads in Effort to Turn Voters Against Trump
Some Republicans, however, are making it clear that they cannot be convinced and are not only opposing him individually but launching a nationwide campaign to convince other Republicans to ditch the former president as well. The group Republican Voters Against Trump, led by Never Trumper Sarah Longwell, is spending $50 million to air ads featuring former Trump backers who explain in a series of videos why they will not support Trump in this election.
According to the Hill, “The ads featuring the former Trump voter testimonials will be deployed on TV, streaming platforms, billboards, radio and digital media” and run in key swing states including Michigan, Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
Their website features dozens of videos of former Trump supporters explaining why they no longer support him.

“These are former Donald Trump voters. They supported him and his policies in the past. But now, they refuse to support him for president again. Watch them explain in their own words why they’re voting against their party to ensure that Trump never holds office again,” the website reads, with many of the individuals offering classic leftist-style critiques, pointing to January 6 and accusing Trump of wanting to be an “authoritarian.”
Seemingly ignoring the big picture and potential impact this could have on Republicans defeating Biden and his agenda this November, Longwell told the New York Times that they are “not building a pro-Joe Biden coalition.”
“You’re building an anti-Trump coalition,” she claimed.

Watson raised alarm bells about how these “intergovernmental agreements” push Mississippi jails to coordinate with “other reliable sources of voter information to assist federal prisoners” with voter information and registration processes, noting that his office has never been contacted by these groups or provided their identity. Despite the Biden administration’s best attempts to withhold such information, conservative outlets and good government groups have discovered that many of the so-called “nonpartisan” organizations colluding with federal agencies to register and turn out voters are extremely left-wing, such as Demos and the ACLU.
The Republican secretary also espoused concerns that these policies could further lead to noncitizens registering and voting in elections, highlighting how “everyone in the Marshals’ custody” is provided a form notifying them of their opportunity to partake in the U.S. electoral process. Many illegal border-crossers have found themselves in Marshals’ custody, he explained.
“It is quite shocking, in the midst of a crisis at our southern border and an unprecedented crime wave, that the Biden administration has chosen to expend tax dollars and vital law enforcement resources on a program that risks bloating state voter rolls with ineligible and non-citizen voters,” Watson wrote.
Watson requested Garland halt such policies “unless and until we can ensure only eligible voters receive voter registration information” and provide details about such procedures until the Mississippi secretary of state’s office “can evaluate what damage may have been done to the integrity of Mississippi voter rolls.” He also asked the attorney general to give his office the “name and identifying information of all people who have received Mississippi voter registration materials under this program.”
Connecticut Governor Wants To Give Noncitizens IDs That Look Exactly Like Those Used To Vote
Gov. Ned Lamont, however, wants to remove the marks because he’s mad that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a law that does not recognize licenses given to illegal immigrants.
“Connecticut prides itself on being a welcoming state,” Lamont’s spokeswoman Julia Bergman said in a statement, according to CT Examiner. “As some states work to target undocumented people, the visual differences in the licenses Connecticut provides to undocumented people has unintentionally made Connecticut residents with varying immigration statuses vulnerable in hostile states.”
Florida passed legislation last year specifying that it will not recognize licenses from Connecticut and four other states that permit illegal immigrants to get the government-issued ID.
“Someone who is in our country illegally and has violated our laws should not possess a government-issued ID which allows them access to state-funded services and other privileges afforded to lawful residents,” Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis said, according to The Hill. Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles Executive Director Dave Kerner added that “Florida will not accept driver’s licenses from those who cannot provide proof of lawful presence in the United States.”
But if Lamont’s efforts are successful, some are worried it could open the door to voting fraud.
