You would be wrong. No surprise there

"All year, the prospect of giving the real estate and reality TV mogul the power to launch attacks that would kill millions of people was one of the main reasons his opponents argued against electing him. “A man you can bait with a tweet is not a man we can trust with nuclear weapons,” Hillary Clinton said in her speech accepting the Democratic presidential nomination. She cut an ad along the same lines. Republicans who didn’t support Trump — and even some who did, such as Sen. Marco Rubio (Fla.) — also said they didn’t think he could be trusted with the launch codes.

Now they’re his. When Trump takes office in January, he will have sole authority over more than 7,000 warheads. There is no failsafe. The whole point of U.S. nuclear weapons control is to make sure that the president — and only the president — can use them if and whenever he decides to do so. The one sure way to keep President Trump from launching a nuclear attack, under the system we’ve had in place since the early Cold War, would have been to elect someone else."

Observation: McCain spanked Trump because of his friendly words towards Russia and now he spanks Trump because of his tough words towards NK that is threatening to wipe us out...

Hey Gurps,

Ever notice how MR goes off and hides when he is called out on a post or can't answer a simple question?

the NORKs didn't need McCain to tell them that, they already knew....

That's not the point. The fact that other countries see the dissension within the party, they will view this as weakness. Countries like Russia and China love to take advantage of these things. If McCain, McConnell and rest of the never-Trump bastards don't have anything constructive to say about this, they should keep their traps shut. We're on the freaking brink of war and you have these people fighting the COMMANDER IN CHIEF rather than our enemy.

we will see what song they sing when NORK nukes Guam

frankly If I were UN - I'd lead line the walls of an old freighter, place one nuke inside, drive up on the beach near LA and pop a nuke off that way ...

but then you could launch a couple of SCUDS from outside the 12 mile limit with Nukes or Chemical Weapons, up and down the Cali coast

People who say Trumps cannot start a war are ignoring the reality.

If Trump call a General and says launch and starts the codes. It's on and Congress can go shlt in ther hats

The entire point of the football is to allow for a defensive launch, not to single handedly start a nuclear war over a threat.

It is the point. Trump made a TERRIBLE bluff and everyone knew it when he said it. We are not anymore on the brink of war with korea than we were 10 years ago. Our leader trying to out crazy theirs just might get us there though.

I think our generals are going to have something to say about that unless an act of war preceded it

What does this have to do with Trump making his statement and McCain telegraphing to the world his dissent of Trump's statement?

If I knew the rest of the world wasn't paying attention, I wouldn't one damn about what McCain has to say. But they are, and when/if the time comes to act on Korea, we don't need people like McCain mucking up the process simply because he doesn't like Trump. McCain better actually articulate why he is against action against NORK or any other enemy-nation.

Since NK has threatened Guam we should shoot down whatever they launch in the future.

The generals don't have say. They could, along the process refuse to obey the order to launch; but that is disobeying an order and illegal. But the generals, aren't in the direct chain of command in making the decision to launch. They only follow the order to launch.
