... and the vision test.Just received a MVA e-mail about my license expiring in June.
It says I have the option to renew on-line.
I'm curious how they handle the picture update.

Did he submit an eye doctor's report for the eye exam part?My guy just did his renewal online. They used his picture from the expiring license. Unless your appearance has changed drastically, your previous photo will do just fine. Maybe the next time around in 8 yrs, he'll get notice he has to physically go to the DMV vs. online renewal again so they can get a new pic after 16 yrs.

I'm going to talk to my "vision provider".Did he submit an eye doctor's report for the eye exam part?
"The MVA staff will screen your vision when you apply for, or renew a license. If you fail to meet the requirements or the MVA has questions about your vision, you may be referred to a vision specialist before the license is issued. If you don't want the MVA to screen your vision, please give this form to your vision specialist for completion, then present the completed form to the MVA when you apply for your license."I wonder what happens if you go for your renewal and you fail the vision test because you didn't realize your eyes were getting old...

Well my "vision provider" Maryland Eye Associates doesn't do the electronic submission thing.
So it's off to Loveville per usual.
That's different than five years ago.Oh, and the new license is mailed to you.
 no? He doesn't wear glasses.... When I got my MD license (in person) 2/3 yrs ago, I never went through a vision test. I was switching from an out-of-state to a MD license.

You sure? I did the same thing and that's when I discovered that I couldn't pass the MD vision test.
Positive! I don't doubt there's a required vision test every time though. Just didn't realize there was as I've yet to have one since I first obtained my license at 16 1/2. Even when I renewed when I turned 21...did not have a vision test. That was both in CT. When I moved to MD, I think it was around the time my license would be expiring anyways, so I went to Loveville and registered in the state of MD. Again, didn't have a vision test. Maybe it's a coincidence that Loveville forgot to test me and my guy didn't have to submit anything. He gets all his medical through the VA so maybe something automatic was done there without him realizing  I think I'm up for another renewal in a year or two so I guess I'll find out then.
Whether you were lucky or not; it's better to take the form for you vision test to an optometrist; Wal*Mart etc. to get it filled out.
Yeah, it might cost you a couple bucks for an office visit with a doctor; vice a non-doctor @ DMV; but you won't have to deal with anybody who thinks they know how to administer an eye exam. Those machines/operators are not infallible. I know whereof I speak.
Does the DashCam get you a discount?
