The man who made the blues "cool," Lightnin' Hopkins, "Lightnin's Blues."

Hopkins covers Ray Charles "What'd I say?"

This thing was a sort of compilation, 'Franken-song' that had potential but, we couldn't really find where to take it, practicing it was a chore and it doesn't really fit with everything else we do. Yesterday was our second rehearsal with the new drummer (Thank you USMC) and the ####ing thing just came to life. We'd worked up a few songs, everyone was warmed up and I asked everyone what they wanted to do next. Someone said 'Epic' and I said "Good. Let's get that out of the way" in a dismissive, humorous tone that made the guys laugh because they know I hate it. Hated it. Which is why, god bless them, they wanted to do it.

This is why I love music; the next half hour was magic. We niggled and jiggled it and this was the third take all the way through. The bass player, who makes the thing really rich with his end of it, was "I don't know if we're gonna remember it..." as it had changed, drastically, from what it was and he was wondering if we'd just forget the changes. It ALL fell it place.

I said "Nah. we got this!" Now it is a freaking blast to play and absolutely one of my favs.

Thunderstruck by Steve'n'seagulls. First off Thunderstruck by acdc is one of my favorite songs of all times. This is an interesting remake, the hillbilly version. Not as good as the original but interesting. Nice banjo lead. Plus i think they live in Finland.

Elvin Bishop and JB Hutto.

What song are they doing?

I couldn't find anything with them performing together, but I did find this. It's a cellphone video, so sound is not quite there, but still rockin' it.

Lazy Lester & the Elvin Bishop Band, "Bye Bye Baby."

I'm a fan of Playing for Change. If you're not familiar with the concept, basically, they take musicians from all over the world and have them sing and/or play collaboratively from where ever they are in the world. The participants vary from song-to-song, and from time to time, though there are a core of musicians that appear on a regular or somewhat regular basis (Grandpa Elliot of New Orleans, Clarence Bakker of Amsterdam, Tula :hot: from Israel, and others).

"Don't Worry" by the Playing for Change band.

This is another one from PFC that I'd not heard before. I mean, I've heard the song, just not from these guys. This is Washboard Chaz, who appears from time-to-time in the PFC videos, and Roberto Luti, another semi regular. It's just the 2 of them, which is the unusual part. Chaz is from NOLA, and Luti is from Italy, though these guys do travel.

"Mystery Train."

I really don't get how a bunch of vet pros could just write stuff like that and actually put it out.

If you ask me, it's simple bar music. I guess when you're already successful you can do projects just for fun and get a break from being serious.

Oh, just so you know, I wore my BLS shirt to the Slayer concert last Sunday. Seriously, no joke.

I miss everything. :tantrum:

But, seriously, I didn't know crap about Adrenalin Mob and that is one of the worst direct copies I've heard in some time. I guess flattery is the sincerest form of imitation???
