Getting ready to move to La Plata

I'm not sure what you are implying? Not that you are, but the other comments lead me to believe there are underlying messages....

Getting ready to move to La Plata

Just the kind of advice I needed! Was thinking about it, but I think i will stick with our 10-year clunker for now.... worth about $1200 blue book.

Getting ready to move to La Plata

Well, it is getting down to the wire, and I am getting ready to move my family from coastal California to La Plata, Md--and planning on being there July 1st. It is stressful to say the least, especially since I have not been--and will not be--able to fly out beforehand to scout a rental. A board...

Crime Increase In Calvert County Part 1

I wouldn't chalk this up to paranoia just quite yet, simply due to the fact that the events--if they occurred--are very likely to induce the same behavior.

How is the "New Olive Garden"?

They've found a way to make Italian food taste like fast food, and its Olive Garden. Bread, bread, and more bread.

Out-of-state nurse finding work in La Plata

Thanks all! These are the kind of tips we need. The home health care thing might be great option if a hospital gig is out of reach, maybe until the economy picks back up. Luckily, she has had an RN student internship for the past 8 months, so maybe that will work in our favor.

Out-of-state nurse finding work in La Plata

Thanks for the tips. Are you saying it would be unrealistic to get a hospital nursing job? My previous question is assuming that she would obtain MD licensure through endorsement. To that end, she will be taking the NCLEX and getting licensed here in CA prior to moving to MD.

Out-of-state nurse finding work in La Plata

Hello everyone. Many of you have been very helpful in my other thread about moving from California for a job in southern Maryland, and I want to thank you. I wanted to ask about prospects for my wife: she is just completing an RN program; however, it is an ADN and not a BSN. To anyone who...

What is good for a burn?

There is nothing better than 100% Aloe. Apply several applications within a few minute period, then fresh layers every hour or so.

Moving from CA for job in Indian Head

"Just up the street" from Port Hueneme would be sprawling city of Oxnard, which is not the best place to live, in my opinion. Hopefully, she will be actually in Ventura.

Moving from CA for job in Indian Head

Do you consider western Charles County to include all rural areas, such as Nanjemoy, Pisgah, etc., or are you referring mostly to the 210 corridor from Indian Head, Bryans Road, Accokeek on up toward PG County?

Moving from CA for job in Indian Head

I lived in Ventura for about a year back in 2001/2002, where I met my wife, in fact. The actual town of Ventura (downtown) is very nice, but it sprawls out in different directions and there are nicer areas than others. I personally lived out in the Saticoy area, which was OK. My sister lives...

Moving from CA for job in Indian Head

Doc: We don't necessarily want to leave, especially since my wife's family is also in CA. But we always knew my career would most likely take us out of state. To everyone: thanks for all the tips. It sounds like St Mary's County is nice, although a bit far for commuting to Indian Head. I...
