How is the "New Olive Garden"?

I don't love it. We went once, expecting some issues because of the recent opening but our visit was extremely unpleasant. The wait staff was very courteous but everything else was pretty crappy. His food came out 20 minutes after mine and neither dish was necessarily worth the wait.

However, having said that, we'll give it another shot when the newness wears off a little. We mostly like Olive Garden for the soup, salad, and breadsticks lunch special. Hopefully the one bad experience is all we'll have.

Went a couple of weeks ago ,during lunch rush.We were seated promptly, which was surprising, our orders were taken in short order and our food was not long in coming. Generic chain restaurant food, not overly bad and not wonderfully good.

I don't see what the big deal with Olive Garden is, it's just another Chain Restaurant. I would never wait in line that long for pasta. Asahi and Monterey's has much better food, and there's usually only a short wait if any.

Went for lunch a few weeks ago. The wait staff young lady was extremely pleasant and they gave us free salad and breadsticks. I only ordered the stuffed mushroom appetizer and it was decent. I'd go back.

We avoided going at first because of the long line of cars down the access road behind the construction. We finally went last week when there looked to be some parking spaces in the parking lot (probably around 9:00 p.m.) and got seated right away.

Our server told us that since the parking lot wasn't completed yet, the staff are the ones parking down that road, which makes it look like it's more crowded than it is, and they haven't been as busy as they predicted because of it. :)

Waited a little longer than I would have liked for our food, but it was good by Olive Garden standards. The staff was very friendly and attentive, and of course the place was nice since it's still brand new.

All in all, it's not a bad place to go.

What kind of food they serving (Asahi and Monterey)? I never heard of these restaurants before.

Monterey's is Mexican and it's very good. Asahi is Japanese very good also, you can sit at the grill or have a regular table. They have a sushi bar as well, also very good. Both are in the San Souci Shopping Center.
