16 year old looking for a hit man

If he's old enough to quit school, know how to find and hire a hit man, and negotiate the truck as payment, then he's old enough to be tried as an adult. Most kids get pissy and have an attitude when they get grounded, but this takes it to a whole new level.

Yes, I agee. I know his parents and they are simply wonderful people. I can't imagine WTH he was thinking...what would have been so damn bad that he had to take it to that level. It's quite scary.

But obviously something made this kid want to off them. Could be that he's just a psycho, but typically it's because of abuse (or even what the kid perceives as abuse). I don't think some perfectly normal kid tries to kill his parents without some previous warning signs that there was a problem.

Different last names, so I assume the dad is actually a step-dad?

It is his step-dad but I don't know how long he has been his step-dad

Yes, step-dad....I recall many times really being pizzed at my parents for something that I deserved to be punished for, although at the time, it was 'percieved' by me that it was just them picking on me & I didn't deserve any punishment....but I never, ever entertained the thought of killing them.

Of course not. The most I ever did was slam a door and cuss them under my breath.

Was the kid involved in drugs? I'll bet he was.

Ding! Ding! I agree!!! Not to play kid's advocate, but I too think there's more to this behind the scenes and my guess is extreme abuse somewhere. He's smart enough to figure all the details out, I'm guessing he was smart enough to think of other options out of the scenario he was in and this was maybe the most practical  I don't know why everyone is soo shocked on here. This is not the first time someone has tried to kill their parents or premeditated it  This is not the only dsyfunctional family in St. Mary's I'm sure. Am I missing someting?

I've heard rumors to that effect, but have not heard any concrete proof. It would be my guess, too.

As alluded to earlier, there just doesn't seem to be a complete picture here... If the kid were truly psycho, he'd take the parents out himself.

Teen Admits Trying to Hire Hit Man to Kill Parents

A 17-year-old who admitted to trying to hire a hit man to kill his mother and stepfather was sentenced Tuesday to a juvenile facility, where he could stay until he is 21.

Ryder must be released by his 21st birthday, but he could be freed much sooner. Most youths sent to the Cullen Center, the state's most secure facility for teenagers, are expected to complete their programs in six to 12 months, said Tammy Brown, a Juvenile Services spokeswoman.
