Pete still has the lease and subleases it out first to Rick and Earnie Jones and now to Greg. Pete company is doing most of the work on the upgrades...

As a sponsor on one of the cars and fans, I can honestly say we are thrilled that Greg Gunter has stepped up. He and Denise are working very closely together and are really putting things right! Yeah it will take a while to undo what Rick Jones did, but you gotta start somewhere!

We can't wait for this season to start! :yahoo:

Things sound promising, but I remember when Rick took over and everyone was excited then too. He made some improvements that first year, but it was all down hill from there. I truly hope that we don't have a repeat.

I have been around Potomac Speedway since it's opening. There was a time when you could not find a seat in the grandstands because they were full. I remember when there were 20 to 25 cars in each class. Then Pete Cameron took over. Believe me, as long as Pete has anything to do with PS it will only go downhill...no matter who the "Manager" is. Drivers and fans are fed up with all the crooked deals and politics that are associated with Potomac. Thats why there are only 5 or 6 full time cars in most of the classes and there are no fans. They will never get another dime from me.

Are these "Mods" real dirt modifieds like they run in NY or something else?

Only been to Potomac once, a year and a half back. Should go more.

I appreciate your comment, however I know for a fact that Greg Gunter has already put more time and money into this track than Rick Jones did in the last four years.

Many of the drivers like Greg and think he has the right idea and so far, Pete is letting him have at it. So, I for one am willing to see how it goes and will support him anyway I can.

I also disagree with your comment about only have 5 - 6 full time cars in most of the classes and if you had been there recently you would know that. I'm glad that you won't be going to Potomac Speedway, we don't need your close minded negative attitude there to ruin our good time!

The point that I was trying to make was that as long as Pete has ANYTHING to do with the track it will not make it.

As far as the car count look at the points standings and look at the full time drivers that race each week for the points championship. In the Super Late class, the late model class and the four cylinder class there were maybe four or five cars in each class that race at PS each race, then look at the stats for VMS, Hagerstown or Winchester.

Again, things like the track inspectors building engines for the drivers....the sponsors, fans and drivers will not come to a track that have crookedness or politics involved.

I am not stating all these things from hearsay, I have personally seen it over the years....Potomac Speedway in action.

Look at the grandstands, that says it all.

I agree that Potomac had seriously gone down hill. But I will say that since about July 4 on, something changed. It seemed that the powers that be discovered that if they put a little effort in, they would reap the benefits.

Since that time, the car counts started to go up and the fans started coming back. Not alot, but it was a start. It was almost as if everyone could feel that Rick and Pete were not going to be as involved. Greg Gunter seems like a well respected upstanding man who will do anything to not allow another track to close.

I understand that you have ill will towards Pete, I just would hope that your negative opinion, doesn't keep people from coming out to see how things are changing. Because if it does, then Potomac's failings are on you... not Pete.

All I ask is that you let the past be in the past and that you give the future a chance.

It has nothing about ill will toward Pete...it has to do with the way the track is run. I hope that Greg can make a difference. But with PETE in the picture AT ALL... it won't work. Pete has too many underhanded deals going on, no matter who the "Manager" is, Pete will have a say in what goes on. Don't be fooled. If Greg leased the track directly from John and Mrs. Beasley there may be a chance.

I am giving it a chance. And you can continue to :deadhorse about Pete.

Its better than driving to VMS every weekend... oh wait, I mean every OTHER weekend this year. They must not like racing anymore

Time will tell. Just speaking from dealing with Potomac Speedway since the time it was taken over by Pete...nothing has changed.

Went when it was run by the Long Brothers and Pistol Bussler it was run by professionals.

Oh well, won't be on me if it fails...it's called tired of getting screwed.

If anyone can change that I wish them luck.
