Why would they want privacy about a car accident?

But what about close friends and family that haven't been notified yet? The reason names are withheld is to give time for proper notification so some significant person in their life can hear of it through proper channels rather than on a message board.pvineswinger said:They announced it in the high school this morning.

so the two people that died in the accident in leonardtown shouldn't have been named on the boards?RoseRed said:If it were my loved ones, I wouldn't want names all over a message board.

I don't think they would have announced it in the high school if it was a "privacy" issue.RoseRed said:As Kwillia stated, give some time to notify family and loved ones before the general public.
pvineswinger said:i'm pretty sure they got in touch with the "siginificant person" before the forums did...
STL_RAMS said:Wouldnt that have already notified frineds and family before announcing the names at the highschool?
otter said:You have no way of knowing whether they did or not..Just delete the names, it does no good to have them listed here at this point in time.
pvineswinger said:If they announced it in the high school during 3rd period- what's the problem mentioning it here. I don't understand the issue.
It's not like anyone is being accused of anything that hasn't been "proven."
It was just stated that 2 local teenagers were in a car accident.
I just don't see the problem.
RoseRed said:I wasn't in 3rd period and still have not heard anything about the accident, other than what has been posted here. If I were a family member, who was unreachable and this is how I recieved the bad news, I'd be pretty upset.
pvineswinger said:My "daughter" does know her and is friend's with her- so when all of the "teenage" kids at school heard the announcement about their friends- was THAT a "bad way" to hear about it?
It's an accident- and from what we've heard everyone survived so far... I could understand if there was a fatality, but from what's been posted...they are in the hospital. If a family hasn't been reached yet- I would think they would want to find out as soon as possible whether it's on a message board or a phone call from the police.
